Brought the car in the week of 12/14 due to a clicking sound. Asked for a diagnostic since we didn't know what the clicking was. My vehicle was running find aside from a random clicking sound. All we needed was the diagnostic test. They business took it in and said it should only take a day and it's possibly a timing belt. We accept and they did that work and ran the test that said its a timing belt. We pay for the services of belt but the timing is still messed up and now they are giving us the runaround and more things are messed up with the car. It Rubberbands back and forth now, misfires, engine shakes virgously, major shifing issues. The mechanic has mention there is no major issues and it's something minor and now stating we need a new motor. we have recordings and him saying he doesn't know what happened and that they are stumped. We just want our car back since it was mis diagnosed and now they are wanting to charge 4 thousand dollars for a new cylinder head which doesn't make sense to us. Everything was completely fine other than that clicking. We have text messages and recordings of him stating they should have completed certain things but now they are not claim fault and stated that it's the vehicles fault on why there is damages. Not sure what that means but we want a refund so we may take it somewhere else, like an actual dealership to fix our vehicle. We trusted them and in there words "have been in the same spot with same owner for 29 years" and yet couldn't fix an issue and have caused major damages and can't fix what they have started and they have left us with no options nor any clear future repairs with our car since they are stumped& can't give us a clear answer on what we can do to get it back to how the car was brought in or better. We have already pay the 1.9k I have added to the pictures but if the text messages they want to add an addition 1.3k for a tune up but that still isn't going to fix our vehicle as he has stated.

Valued customer, let me start my response by stating that your original issue or complaint with the vehicle was fixed.  ********* knock repair was a success and have not had that issue post repair.   The approved work on the timing belt is also when we found and updated you with the rear bank camshaft jumped time a complete 180-degree turn - not just a couple of teeth.  When the camshaft jumps time this severely there is a high possibility of internal damage. You were called to pick up the vehicle with a recommended repair and estimate for a motor tune up for the misfire codes now present on the computer after replacing the timing belt and components.   With your approval the tune up was completed and did not fix the running poor condition and you were not charged for that tune up sir.  The ignition coils were returned, and labor was taken care of, new spark plugs left installed - no charge.  After an inspection of our timing job, the technician was in fact "stumped"   because of the now current condition and NEW issue of running poorly (stumped because with timing belt jump going back to its original condition it should have been running poorly to begin with but was only knocking).  After our inspection and tear down of our timing job, we noted the rear camshaft time reverting back to its "jumped time" like that which was examined on the initial visit, the motor now runs very poorly - BUT no motor knock!!!!    Repaired customer complaint and informed you that a tear down of the rear cylinder head would be required to continue diagnostics.   At every corner we kept you in the loop and fully aware, but you are uneducated in the field of automotives which is why you brought vehicle to a professional repair facility in the first place.

The fact that you think my business, that has been operating for 29 years, would "cause major damage and can't fix what they started."  is a very ignorant and naive comment.  Ultimately your lack of general knowledge and basic understanding of this industry is why we couldn't reach an agreement as you were constantly informed and updated on the status of vehicle but required a continually reexplanation because you just did not understand what we were telling you.     Our attempts to save you money are in vain because of your deformational clauses accusing me off exploitation and malpractice.   Let me finish by exclaiming that we tried to save you the cost of cylinder head repair due to the vehicles condition of running well when it arrived.

I am rejecting this response because: i brought my car in for a clicking. the mechanic stated it was the timing belt and we paid for it but it wasnt done correctly. they stated the car was running smoothly but the first time we picked it up it was rubberbanding and shaking immensely which is oppposite of what was on the paperwork we got because it states on the receipt that it was running smoothly. we spoke to other mechanics for a second opinion since their mechanic of 30 years was stumped. we were given a stack of papers of ALL these options that it could be but then was told we arent guessing which made us lose trust in them. we decided we didn't want them touching our car anymore and wanted to take it somewhere else. we towed it to a dealership, which i am glad we did because then we went to a dealership who said it was the timing belt was incorrect part and there was missing bolts or the incorrect bolts which is in the video we added and the spark plugs that were added for "our convivence" were also incorrect of some sorts. there was no issues with motor or cylinder or camshaft or any other issues they stated was needed. the dealership finished in a day, nothing about a new motor. simple and to the point about the clicking and now my car is running smoothly. any questions we asked whenever we needed an update were met with a snide ****** of we cant work on your car for all 8 hours, we have other work or priorities or met with our mechanics triple checked and our work is perfect. we are all human and make mistakes and we just wanted some clarity after almost a month of no end in sight.
      Regards,

I went to them for a check engine light and some minor repairs. They kept my car for weeks and kept finding things to replace that had nothing to do with the check engine light codes. When I asked for my car back to go to another mechanic they refused to let me pay my bill with my debit card and would not release my car. When I called the police the owner then told me he would only give me my car back if I went to the bank and paid cash. My bill was $4,111! Who walks around with $4k in their pocket? There was no written policy to pay in cash and there was a credit machine to pay with debit but to be difficult and racist he would not take my debit card payment. This business is unprofessional and unethical. No one should ever be treated the way I was today!

I will keep this short and to the point. ****************** received his vehicle with all the approved repairs. ****************** came in to pay for the repairs and made the statement that we (Performance Auto & Trans) add we ran up his bill. We had his car 8 days to complete the repairs he approved. I told him that was not the truth and that *********** bill will be paid in cash. He didn't like the idea, so he summoned to hold his temperament well until SAPD arrived.  After that he began calling myself and my service advisor F ***king ********************** I could do something for him. This was a constant rant. As long as he had SAPD at his side he was very brave and fluent in vulgarity. The icing on the cake. I was a RACIIST! That's it in a nutshell. If you want more. Just ask. *********************** / GM

I am rejecting this response because:it is not accurate and does not address the fact that the bill was run up and the original issue was never fixed. Also the owner does not address his racist comments towards me, holding my vehicle and refusing to accept payment and not having the knowledge or capacity to work on it in the first place. It says on the businesss Yelp page that they ************ but because I am Black he accused me of having a fraudulent card and wanted me to pay him $4k in cash before releasing my vehicle to me. As you can see from his ridiculous response he is not a serious person and is a character playing a businessman.
