On January 22, 2024, I requested plumbing services with AJAX Plumbing. I called them to install a water filter faucet. They said that in two hours a technician will come to fix the problem. The technician arrived but he had the idea that it was for a change of filters and was going to charge $225.00. I told him that I bought the faucet. After clarifying the real problem, he agreed to the job for the amount mentioned before. After some time, he said he finished and that everything looked good and there was no leak. I paid with a check, and he left.A few hours later my wife told me that there was a leak from the faucet under the sink. I called the company AJAX Plumbing, and they said that the technician will come to fix the problem. The next day the same technician came, and after some time he said that there was a problem with a part, looked like a washer, and he took it and said that he was going to order it and left with it.Later, on Friday, I read a message sent from the technician saying that he had decided to buy the part without consulting me about the price. That day I was unable to answer the phone because of a passing of a relative.I texted the technician on Saturday, January 27, about the job that needed to be finished, and he said that I better call him over the phone. He told me that he could go on Monday, and he was going to charge me $325.00 because of the cost of the part. I told him that the cost of the part was not acceptable. He insisted that was the right price. After a discussion, I told him that I could pay only $100.00 for the final fix with the part. After the Saturday call with the technician, I realized that this person was not trustworthy. On Monday, January 29, I called the company, AJAX Plumbing, and explained that I wanted a refund because the technician did not fix the issue and he was not trustworthy when trying to sell an overpriced part.I kept calling the company several times and still they refuse to refund the $225.00.Initial Complaint

We had to file a claim with our insurance carrier for water damage... in the master bathroom...this also involved a new tub installation and removal. The 1st guy that came was *** he gave us a quote ...and we had agreed with wat he quoted us 350...well 2 other guys came and we noticed that watever they did caused a leak in the rr The same 2 guys came out to in attempt to fix it...they where being very rude and disrespectful we requested for the original guy to come who quoted us a price of 350 we gave him 175 upfront. A guy named ******* came today and was trying to argue the fact that...*** the original guys quote was incorrect and now they need to charge **** we asked to speak to manager and or the owner...he told us that we where not to speak to him or her because he is a master plumber and we need to deal with him directly. This guy was so rude to us...and he then stated I'm going to walk outside ...because yall are going to make me...and he stopped saying watever it was he was about to say...I guess he caught himself...no one should have to go thru this...I'm just glad I was here with my elderly mother ...he scared her so bad she was crying uncontrollably. My mom has had a heartattack before...and this person walks in and is rude asking her for more money...this person was billegerent and had no remorse no apologies @ all... he said we fired the guy that quoted u incorrectly. This is not our fault this business hired this man and trusted him in our home to fix something. This is not fair @ all. Wat kind of professional does this. I want everyone to kno wat kind of business this is. DO NOT SOLICIT THIS COMPANY FOR REPAIRS.Business response

Went on site to install tub, and faucet still had not been purchased.
Nov 20, 2021
Our master plumber **** was sent to hook up water to tub. Upon arrival he noticed differences in new tub which would require more work and noticed that the original quote of 525 did not include running new water lines or installation of customer provided faucet for tub. Provided new estimate to customer for new work and she was not happy.
I am unsure about the insurance claim she talked about in her complaint, she never mentioned to us at the office. Trust me when I say if something was damaged because of us she would have expected us to pay for the damages. Just like any other customer has expected in the past. I have also provided the work orders and estimates that were completed while on site. Please let us know if you have any questions.

I called Ajax Company & informed there was a leak but leak had to be located & problem with roots breaking into sewer line near the driveway. On 12/19/20, received estimate of $1,728.00. On 01/07/21, dug up the line 2 from cleanout but did not fine a leak & said would not charge $600.00. They stated the sch 30 PVC pipe close to driveway was for trailer homes & would not pass inspection. They had cut out the piece of ******** felt trapped. They said they could patch line with Sch 40 pvc pipe & hide sch 30 pvc pipe. Alternative was to void the contract dated 12/19/20 and write a new one. New contract for $4,800.00 because they would have to rent a backhoe, pay operator & dig 50. They did not use a backhoe or operator, they broke my brick pathway. I felt deceived after speaking to Converse inspector that informed me that they do not require replacement of Sch 30 PVC. Additional charge of $3,072 was for unnecessary work. Called Ajax twice and informed owner will call.Business response

I understand where customers coming from sometimes a job is a process of illumination plumberwas partially correct about the pipe it was legal when they installed it since that pipe turned out so bad the city abolished itthe price we gave her a new sewer line $4800 was a very reasonable price which in The long run was a favor favor in the long run I understand and I regret and realizeand maybe the customer was not really ready for that service Hopefully a few years from now she will be happy about the service we gave her sincerely ********************* owner

I am rejecting this response because:
The owner states that the plumber was partially correct about the pipe its abolished the pipe. I say I am paying for a plumber to be totally correct. His plumber gave me incorrect information and expects me to pay the price for the plumbers lack of knowledge. The incorrect information provided by the plumber changed the price from $800 (Repair $600. + permit $200 = $800) to $4,800. Why should I have to pay for his plumbers mistakes. The inspector stated tha I was only required to fix the broken part not the entire line. The plumber took advantage of a senior senior citizen that put her trust in him to do necessary work. The piece that he cut did not look damaged. The plumber mentioned that the roots were wrapped around the pipe and that it was the wrong size pipe and the entire line had to be replaced. He cut a perfectly good pipe that was in good working condition (not penetrated by tree roots). Why did he cut the pipe prior to consulting me about the price change? The cut pipe pressured me into making a quick decision because I could not bear to leave tenants without a functioning sewer line. The plumber stated the price was high because they had to rent a backhoe and hire an operator. I visited the job sight and discovered that they were digging manually. Based on the fact that they did not rent a backhoe, did not hire operator, did not have to dig deep, and paid for cheap manual labor, I should get a price reduction. I am not happy with the fact plumber was partially right. Plumber did extra unnecessary work. He did not touch on the main reason he was called in for which was leak under foundation. He just worked on something that *** be a future problem. Owner did not mention paying for damaged brick walkway caused by plumber.Regards,
