I have dealt with the company twice now because they were who AHS recommended for my home repair. The first time we dealt with them was for my ** dishwasher. It made the noises as if it were running but nothing was happening. As was called on a Friday, but didnt have availability for 1.5 weeks. When the technician came the water sensor was detecting a leak underneath when there was none. Instead of replacing the sensor they kept saying nothing was wrong with it. It worked for about a month and had continued to have the same problem. I tried to call to see if they would come back out but they refused because the warrenty had expired by 3 days. A few months later the ice machine in my ** fridge stopped working and my freezer kept freezing over. As was sent again to repair it. They came at the end of April to inspect, but a part had to be order so they werent able to come back until May 20. When they came out they said they fixed the icemaker without the part and said nothing was wrong with the freezer. A week later it stopped working. I called several times to get them to come back out to fix it properly but they never returned my call until a week after their warrenty ran out. When I finally did receive a call back it was a week after the month warrenty. I explained to them that I have called several times and left messages, but the manager refused to listen and kept saying there was nothing they could do.So now I have a malfunctioning dishwasher, freezer, and ice-maker and they are refusing to provide assistance. They told me if I put in another AHS work order then they would come back out. So unless we paid for their services a second time they werent coming back out. They put a banded on the problem long enough for the warranty to run out. As manager was very rude and kept cutting me off when I tried to explain what was happening. When I told them I was leaving a negative review they didnt seem to care. Very poor service from this company all around.

The technician completed the repair on 5/20/24, you had 30 days recall period for us to come back to take a look. The only contact you made with our company was on 7/1/24. If you are still having issue with your appliances, you may call your warranty to get the tech back out and take another look.  We need a work order for us to visit. Please reach out to your warranty to see if they can help you with this matter.

I have AHS who contracted this company to repair my appliances. My dishwasher wasn't cleaning or drying, my oven wasn't baking evenly, it takes 25 minutes on high to cook two eggs on my back stove burners, my fridge isn't cooling well/has cracked and moldy seals/has two shelves that broke/my freezer ices over. I had to wait a week for them to come out. The technician said he was using a zip tie to fix the ** and ordering parts for thr oven. I ran the ** and it again didn't clean and didn't dry. I looked at the ticket he left which said it was draining correctly (not the problem). I tried to make eggs on the back burners the next morning for my toddler and it again took forever. I tried to preheat the oven to make bacon and there was now smoke and an awful smell coming from the oven. This is now worse than it was before they came out. He didn't order the parts for the fridge that are literally cracked in half, replace the seals, or check the freezer. Instead it says no problems found. I am about to have a newborn here and cannot go without my appliances to cook, sterilize, or refrigerate milk. I called the company after seeing he write no issues found on the ticket because that is clearly incorrect. They said I had to wait until the technician turned in his paperwork. They called back to say that he was going to order the oven part but couldn't replicate any other issues. They then said that he could diagnose the other issues again when he received the parts for the oven and came back to install those. I explained that I couldn't wait because I need these for both my toddler and my newborn. I asked if they could send someone else and they said no. I explained that waiting for this one person who did not see obvious issues not only just delayed these getting repaired but would also be an extreme inconvenience with a newborn baby.

    Hello,

The work order is still in progress, the tech ordered a part for the oven, the there were no failures with the other appliances during the visit. Your home warranty does not cover intermittent issues, therefore the technician needs to replicate the issue with an appliance during the visit. The technician will take a look at your appliances when he returns to install the part, you were already advised that when you called to follow up. If you have any further questions, please reach out to our office or your home warranty.

I am rejecting this response because:

The dishwasher was not drying, the technician put not draining. After speaking with AHS, they saw that the request for service on the dishwasher was because it was not drying. The misunderstanding was on the part of A's.

The oven wasn't heating evenly. The technician said it didn't heat at all due to a short. Also incorrect. The oven still heats and now has smoke coming from it.

The other issues were not addressed accordingly. He supposedly only checked to see if the burners came on. That was not the issue. He also only checked to see if the fridge cooled at all, again, not the issue.

I have detailed the issues each time I called and again on this complaint. These have still not been addressed.

There were no mechanical or electrical errors with the refrigerator, oven, and cooktop. The gentleman told the tech that the dishwasher was not draining, and tech confirmed proper function. If youre having issues with the heating of the dishwasher, we can have the technician take a look again at that.

As Appliance Repair was contracted by American Home Shield to look at our dishwasher which had stopped working. On February 23, 2024 a technician from As inspected the dishwasher and found that there was water damage to the control board. On February 27, we were notified that American Home Shield had denied coverage since water damage is not a covered peril. We asked AHS whether the As technician had made any assessment as to how water came in contact with the control board as we maintain that if water came in contact because of normal wear and tear to seals or some other covered peril then coverage should not be denied. *** informed us that As had made no determination of the cause of the water getting to the control board. I expressed surprise to AHS that they could make a coverage decision without this key piece of information. They said that they could only make a decision using the information that As had provided. We contacted As to request a determination on the cause of water getting to the control board and were told that since we had chosen to not pursue repairs using out-of-pocket funds that they had closed this file and therefore could not send anyone out to assess the cause of water coming in contact with the board. We are left feeling like As specifically omitted key information that would be needed for AHS to make a fully-informed coverage decision. And, of course, if we ask As a coverage question they say, Contact AHS. They make coverage decisions. Meanwhile, if we ask AHS a coverage question they say, Contact As. We are relying on the information they provided.

We submitted the technicians findings that theres water on the control board, which is not normal wear and tear. The dishwasher is sitting next to the sink and any spillage can sip through the dishwasher and damage the components as in this case. All coverage decisions are always processed by your warranty.

    Customer Answer

    Complaint: 21354419

I am rejecting this response because I find the explanation that if an under-counter dishwasher is near a sink then it will get water on its control board. If this were generally true it would indicate a major design flaw with dishwashers in general.

I also question the assertion that water getting onto a dishwasher control board is not due to normal wear and tear when As cannot tell us how the water got there.

When we asked As to return to try to determine the specific cause that allowed water to reach the control board we were told that since we were not choosing to pay As for repairs then they could not returnwhich seems unprofessional since the warranty company was relying on incomplete information.

Finally we are puzzled. The warranty company reviewed and decided to reverse their decision and to cover the loss and the next day the warranty representative sent an email saying that As had gone into the system and changed the status back to uncovered and that they (the warranty rep) had had to fix it again. It seems to us that As is motivated to ensure this claim is not covered by warranty.

My refrigerator stopped working however, the freezer compartment continued to function. Called American Home Shield as I have a home warranty, because I acquired it when I purchased the condo. So far the technician has been out a total of four times, one day for almost 7 hours. He couldnt really explain what was wrong. The first time he ordered a part and then a week later installed it and that did not fix the problem. Yesterday he came out again, said he need another part, came back six hours later with the part and then informed us that we had to unplug the refrigerator for 24 hours and defrost the freezer, thereby spoiling $400 worth of food. He thought that would work. I asked to speak to his supervisor. The supervisor said he did not speak to customers after regular working hours! The technician never really explained the problem, I did not receive a copy of the repairs performed. It is three days before Christmas, my daughter had surgery 2 days ago and I have no way to store fresh food. I was also told their technicians do not work Sat and Sunday, and as its the holidays I think I will be lucky to hear from them by Tuesday!! Reading on line reviews, this company has a history of poor performance, to say the least. I would like the public to be aware of how terrible this companies service truly is!!

The tech that was dispatched diagnosed a broken damper that was supposed to stay open to cool your fresh food section. After the part replacement your refrigerator section did not start cooling, he came back again and found additional issue. Your refrigerator had a massive ice clog in your return line, which normally can happen if you accidentally leave the door open. This also will cause your fresh food section damper door to malfunction or brake. He spent a lot of time trying to defrost it with his steamer, but the ice build-up was too big and not reachable with the steamer. Tech understands all conveniences with the self defrost prosses, this is why he came back to you twice, the same day before the holiday to get your unit back to normal.Unfortunately, in your case, the manual defrosting was the only option to defrost the clog. The spoilage of food is normally handled by transferring your frozen items to the cooler and adding dry ice. It can keep your food solid and frozen for a few days. Unfortunately, your unit broke in such a way right before the holiday. Please reach out to our office if you need more information on how to manually defrost your refrigerator. Our supervisor is normally available Mon-Fri 8 am-5 pm and can assist you with this information or any questions you may have.

Work order: ***** on 9/27/23 Technician ***** arrived at my home, was told the problem (****** was only periodically working) and dismissed any concerns due to the fridge appearing to be fully functional at his arrival. He again dismissed concerns and simply "reset board", refused to wait 5 minutes for additional information and left. I called the office complaining that the fridge wasn't working properly even though it was in a functioning cycle. I was informed by the manager Destiny, that they wouldn't return to see the unit until it was fully malfunctioning and that I'd need to submit another work order (pay again). I finally informed Destiny that when my fridge goes out again A.s Appliance Repair would be responsible for the lost food to which I received a verbal confirmation ("Ok"). My fridge did go out again and when I reached out to A.s Appliance Repair they told me they would not see me for another week but when pressed could get me in sooner but only during a time when I could not be home and refused to work with me on scheduling. When pressed about the food reimbursement Destiny retracted her previous confirmation stating that they "don't do that". I asked for her manger, she said there wasn't one. She was extremely unprofessional and eventually hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak to a different manager. I spoke to ***** who also wouldn't work with anything and informed me that they would not be servicing me anymore, the only people higher than him and Destiny were the owners and they don't get involved in things like this. ***** also hung up on me. A.s Appliance Repair treated me with contempt, they were disrespectful, incompetent and unprofessional. They need to be held accountable for their incompetence and unprofessional way they handled this situation. Others need to know what they are getting into when they hire this company.

During the visit on 9/27/23 tech could not replicate your intermittent issue. Technician looked at all the weak points of the refrigerator and it all passed, he reset control board to make sure it was not affected by the power outage. Unfortunately, he could not witness the failure of the unit during the visit, therefore there was no recommendation of parts replacement on the fully functioning unit. Regarding the food spoilage, you signed the waiver during the appointment that were not responsible for any food spoilage, we recommend contacting your home warranty if youre continuing having issues.

I am rejecting this response because:

The tech was in my home less than 10 minutes, not long enough to hear the complaints (let alone understand them). He refused to do anything other than lip service and was in a rush to get out the door. The tech was unprofessional but the response from this business didn't take into account how incompetent, rude and unprofessional both the Managers at the head office were when I tried to resolve my complaint. My workorder was seen as fast money since "there wasn't a problem" and when it was brought to their attention that they would have to do real work they refused.  This company's refusal to take my concerns serious caused intentional and unnecessary hardship on me and my young family. This blas response is not satisfactory.

I paid home warranty company for this local company to come do a diagnostic on my refrigerator water filter enclosure. They came out, inspected it, and left. I need the diagnostic that was submitted to the home warranty company and they are refusing to provide it.

    **************,

Your home warranty does not provide us with the copy of the report, we use their portal for entering the information. You can request it from them, unfortunately we do not have access to their systems, and it is not clear why theyre not providing you with a copy of the report, they do send emails with details of their decision, we recommend checking your email for that. The information submitted to your home warranty includes the technicians findings that there is physical damage on the water filter housing with pictures of the damage. Your home warranty didnt approve the repair and we had to close the work order. For the questions of their decision, please call their customer service department.

As was assigned to me by our home warranty company. They came out July 5, the technician looked at my settings, checked the back of the refrigerator and took photos, then said it was nothing mechanical wrong and could be a closed system problem, possibly freon, but he does not work on the closed systems, so someone else from As would have to come out. When the report went to my home warranty company, it showed service complete. I contacted the home warranty and let them know that my refrigerator internal temperature will not go below 40* still, so they sent As back out. July 12, As came back out, same technician, he took photos, and said nothing mechanical wrong and it must be a closed system problem, he did say Yes something is wrong, but it is not mechanical. Same thing happened, the report to the home warranty said service complete, nothing mechanical wrong. They closed out the repair status.I do not understand why As doesnt want to fix my refrigerator or do they have some sort of side agreement with the home warranty company to NOT have expensive repairs?

    Business Response

    ***************************,

We were dispatched twice for the refrigerator repair. During both visits the technician could not replicate any mechanical or electrical failures with the unit. The technician mentioned that if the issue was the sealed system failure, then the refrigerator would not cool and only get warmer. During both appointments we have picture evidence of full bin of ice in the freezer and optimal cooling temperatures on the thermometers inside the refrigerator section. We did submit the findings to American Home Shield and therefore they closed both work orders because the unit was fully functional during both appointments.

    Customer Answer

    Complaint: 20335131

I am rejecting this response because:

Frig is practically empty and still over 40*, even though it is set for 34* and freezer is set for -8* to get it between 4* & 0*. I had a 2nd opinion done on July 28, the technician took 1 look at the inside of the upper ice maker and said the system is frozen (huge wall of ice on the back of the ice maker). Then he looked at the freezer section, the back vents are iced up also. He ran a defrost cycle and the freezer fan never came on. Parts have been ordered and they will be back to FIX the system!

The new technician said that if your tech had just looked in the ice maker and saw the wall of ice, they should have known that the system was frozen, and that is what is keeping the cold air from circulation in the frig.

A resolution for this BBB complaint would be that you return to the home warranty company any monies you received from them, since you were incompetent to fix my unit.

We contracted this business through American home shield warranty on 5/24/2023. It took them a week to come out and then a week to order parts. They don't schedule the installation appointment until the parts arrive and that took another week. After 3 weeks the new part was installed but that didn't fix the issue. One week later they came back out- needed to order a part which took a week- and then we waited another week for the part to be installed. That part again did not fix the issue. One week later a tech came out again and this time he tells us that everything is normal. The tech's name is ******. I have two different thermometers in the fridge that are reading 50 degrees but he tells me that his "high precision equipment" is more accurate. I called the company home office to speak to a manager and request they send another tech out to my house. She told me that was absolutely not going to happen because her tech said everything is fine. Today I had a tech from another company come out and he confirmed what I already knew- the fridge IS sitting at 50 degrees. It's obvious the tech just wanted to close the ticket and lied to get that done. On top of the issues fixing our issue we have also had to endure flagrant unprofessionalism. Every time they have come out they have given us a window of 8am-12pm yet they always come at least 1 hour late between 1-2pm. This has caused my wife and I to lose wages at work.

     **************,

Due to your refrigerator being older, there is a limited inventory of the available parts and obtaining some parts takes longer than expected. Unfortunately, there were separate issues with the unit and one of them was a sealed system failure. Luckily ************** ****** is a sealed system specialist and could address the repair without additional delays or transfers to other technicians, as not all technicians specialize in sealed systems. During the recall appointment, he did not witness any cooling failure and took pictures of the thermometer temperatures for the record- fridge section: 35 F and freezer 1 F which are optimal temperature readings.

I called my warranty company American Home Shield (AHS) to get my dishwasher looked at on 6/22/2023 and was linked to this company and was booked an appointment for 6/24/2023. My dispatch # ********* for this appointment, As Appliance Repair sent their technician ***** out to my house. ***** arrived and within 2 minutes try to tell me that I need an electrician and that nothing is wrong with my dishwasher. I asked the technician to make sure the dishwasher is not working because it wont turn on at all, ***** then goes to get an extension chord and some other tools and begins to assess my dishwasher. He then tells me that the plug in fact does work and something is wrong with the dishwasher. ***** shows me a picture of the circuit board and says that something is wrong with the circuit board and I reply and ask him if this is something that can be fixed or do I need an entire new dishwasher? The technician tells me that it can be replaced and then he gives me a blank receipt for the work order with NO details on it or anything, I sign the front and back checking the boxes for acknowledgement of any problems or issues and which I write that there is no prior issues or preexisting damage. ***** tells me that he doesnt know anything about the warranty and how the repair will work and he leaves me with the blank sheet and says that my warranty company will contact me about the repair. I get an email on 6/26/23 from AHS stating that my service request is now complete. No one has come back to fix or look at my dishwasher and I was never told a price for the repairs. I also received a voicemail from As Appliance Repair stating that they were not approved by the warranty company to repair my dishwasher. I call AHS and try to get a reason why and they tell me that the technician didnt put in the invoice for the service.

I am rejecting this response because:

The technician did not show me any picture. There is no pest infestation as my house is sprayed quarterly.

On April 13 I called American Home Shield (AHS) and paid $100 to have my dishwasher repaired. It had stopped cleaning the dishes and there was a noise coming from it.On April 19 a repair man came from A's Appliance Repair (AAR) and took our dishwasher apart. He said he needed to order a part and left the dishwasher inoperable and parts on the counter. Ever since the above dates I have been trying to get someone to come and fix my dishwasher to no avail. Both AHS and AAR are stone ******* me by not returning calls as said and the old standard, that's not our job.

I am rejecting this response because:

In regards to A's appliance, after four months I was forced to hire another appliance company to complete their job. On August 4th the new appliance company replaced the dishwasher pump. Which ran me over $600.00 out of pocket. But now my problem is resolved because the dishwasher is working properly. No thanks to "American Home Shield" and "A's Appliance."
