Company is billing for services not rendered. Real estate contract fell through on the date service was set to start. I had pushed the start date of service from 06/16/23 to 06/23/23 based on certain facts known to me about the closing on the situs address of the account. The real estate contract fell through after normal business hours, so I called *** Houston Electric Coop at 8:30 AM on 06/24/23 and spoke with ******. She mentioned I would be charged the $25 connect fee as well as any service charges up to Monday 06/26/23 when they could disconnect service. Since *** Houston Electric Coop does not work weekends the soonest they could disconnect my account is Monday 06/26/23. I told her I do not agree that I should pay for any service I have not used. She asked for a forwarding address to send the final bill to and I declined. ****** told me it could impact my credit score should I let it go to default and I told her it did not concern me since I never used their service. I mentioned I did not agree with her statements or the business practices of *** Houston Electric Coop. I was unable to purchase the house, the company was closed by time the real estate contract fell through, I called as soon as they opened Saturday 06/24/23, and now I am being threatened with my credit being impacted. I do not want to be charged any amount and I would like my account closed without recourse or negative impact to my credit. I am seeking a billing adjustment to reflect $0 and for the account to be closed/terminated.
