Important Information
Pending Government Action
February 24, 2025- Houston, Texas — Harris County Attorney Christian D. Menefee has filed a lawsuit
against Elias and Celeste Haddad, their business, Kitchen and Bath
Decor (KBD), and an employee, Jonathan Neil, for scamming customers
through fraudulent home renovation services. KBD used high-pressure
sales tactics to persuade customers to sign contracts and pay in
full upfront, knowing they would never deliver the promised goods
and services.
According to the lawsuit, KBD took the
money and cut off contact with customers entirely or, when services
were provided, repeatedly delayed the start date, used substandard
materials, or left customers with partially demolished kitchens and
bathrooms.
“This company built their entire business
model on fraud. They promised big discounts if folks paid upfront,
took their money, and then never delivered on the work. And for
those that didn't have the money upfront, they pushed them to take
out loans,” explained County Attorney Menefee.
The
County Attorney's office is seeking a court order to stop KBD from
continuing these deceptive practices and to impose maximum penalties for
violating consumer protection laws. More than 100 consumers have
potentially fallen victim to this scam.
“Let this
be a warning: if you think you can build a business out of scamming
people, my office will hold you accountable. We’re going after bad
actors who take advantage of hardworking families,” Attorney Menefee
stated.
If you or someone you know has been scammed
by KBD or a similar company, report it to the Harris County Attorney's
Office at ScamFreeHC.com.
