We are a church and used Summer Energy for several years. A couple of years ago we signed an extension to our current contract, which would have extended into 2028. When it came down to the beginning of the extension, Summer Energy decided NOT to honor the signed agreement and instead left us with only a couple of weeks to make a decision about a new provider. Not only that, they kept harassing us via mail and email about the fact that our contract was ending and we would be disconnected if we didn't renew. They have horrible business practices and refused to answer any correspondence from us, including emails and phone calls. Do NOT use them!Review from Sayeed R

They've been promoting a 3-month plan that I've been trying to subscribe to by making calls. However, over the past week, every time I called, they informed me that their website was experiencing issues. Finally, when I contacted them today, they informed me that they are currently not accepting new customers. In my view, their business practices appear questionable. Throughout the past week, I've spent an average of 20 minutes on hold each day while calling them, and I've consistently urged them to be transparent if they have no intention of honoring the price they advertised on powertochoose.org. It seems they have been providing misleading information. It's apparent that they've raised the energy prices and are no longer adhering to the originally advertised price.

I'm a new Summer Energy customer, less than 6 months. In those 6 months. I've twice been hit with a "disconnection notice," due to their not processing or receiving my bill payment. Never in 30 years of paying utilities (with my same bank) have I encountered this. My most recent experience is with the Texas ice storm. Bank sent check on 20th, by Feb 6th, Summer Energy had not deposited check. Summer Energy customer service said mail was delayed due to ice storm and were still going to assess 20.00 late fee if account not paid by today. I sent a screen shot showing the amount had been taken from my account on the 20th for the payment. Customer service is not offering a waiver despite the fact that mail and businesses were likely closed for a full week - including their accounting dept who are likely swimming in receiving late checks due to the storm and having to catch up themselves.
