After getting several bids from contractors on an extensive bathroom remodel, we decided to go with Epic Contracting Group. When it came time to pay our deposit, we were told their email got hacked. We were informed by our bank that our money ($15k) is gone and not recoverable. We gave Epic several opportunities to come up with a fair solution for both parties (we would have been happy if they were just willing to split the loss with us), but instead they stopped responding. If Andrew and Eric weren't willing to make this right, then how they would have dealt with the common issues which need resolution during a remodel?

*****- first off, we are very sorry this happened as it is a horrible situation, where we both were taken advantage of a advanced hack. We as a company never ask for bank wires for this very reason, and that's why I requested a check to be picked up. To say we are not willing to work with you is inaccurate. We have always said we will work with you to get a fair resolution with at minimum covering half of the initial deposit, but we're under the impression that was not acceptable based on your last response We were under the impression you were still waiting on the bank in investigation and decision. We have not received one call or email from you since our last communication on March 29th. In the end we are willing to do what's fair and make sure you get a quality remodel and ensure you don't have to cover the full bill for this unfortunate incident.

Here are the facts : Two weeks after we realized there was a hack (on March 15), I reached out to Epic to see if there was a way we could move forward (the FIRST time I reached out to them to figure out a solution). ****** came to our house March 23rd. This is where he says he offered to split the deposit with us. There were three people in that conversation, and two of us didn't hear him say that. Regardless, I sent a follow up email later that day asking for an offer IN WRITING on how we could proceed (because, in our opinion, he didn't come to our house with a fully-formed solution). Epic replied to that email, so I know they received it, but didn't send a solution. One week later, I had to follow up with them because we hadn't heard anything (the SECOND time I followed up with them about a way forward). The last communication we have from Epic is on March 29th saying "**** and I are meeting tomorrow to discuss what we're able to do a d a plan. I will get back with y'all.". We never heard from them, until minutes after posting a review (two months later).

Through all of this, here is what we learned about how Epic does business : 1 - Poor communication. They said they will get back to us and never did. In my opinion, they should have been hounding ME to keep my business and keep me happy. 2 - Not proactive about finding solutions. I was the one that had to twice initiate conversations to find a way forward, but was never given a solution. 3 - They don't take responsibility - since posting reviews they keep bringing up that it is MY fault that I didn't reach out ENOUGH.

These are not qualities we want in a contractor, nor do we want that person in our home.
