      Hello,I am reaching out to you because I recently discovered that my Hinge account was banned without any clear explanation or specific justification. I am extremely surprised and disappointed by this situation, especially as I am confident that I did not violate any of the platform's rules.I have always used Hinge seriously and respectfully, with the goal of making genuine and meaningful connections. I truly appreciate your app for its focus on long-term relationships, its intuitive interface, and the quality of the profiles.       To Whom It May Concern,I am filing a formal complaint regarding the banning of my Hinge account, which I believe was done in error or due to a misunderstanding.On 9th April 2025, I discovered that my account had been banned without warning or any clear explanation. I was not given the opportunity to defend myself or gain insight into any potential violations, which makes the situation even more frustrating.While I cant say with certainty what led to the ban, I suspect that my use of similar greeting messages with different matches might have unintentionally triggered Hinges automated moderation system. If that was perceived as bot-like behavior, I want to clarify that I did not use any automation tools or engage in prohibited activity. All of my messages were sent manually and in good faith, with the intention of connecting respectfully.If this behavior contributed to the account ban, I sincerely apologize. Ive always aimed to use Hinge in a way that aligns with its community guidelines, and I genuinely enjoyed the app as a way to connect with people in a meaningful way.       While I appreciate that Hinge states all appeals receive human review, their response lacks transparency. I was not provided with a clear reason for the account termination, nor any opportunity to address or correct the issue. Citing privacy and security concerns to avoid disclosing specific details leaves consumers like myself in the dark and unable to fairly engage with the process.
      I strongly believe my account may have been mistakenly flagged and removed due to what could be interpreted as bot-like behavior specifically, sending similar greeting messages when initiating conversations. This was not intended to violate any guidelines, but rather a result of consistent but genuine attempts to engage with matches. I do not believe this warranted a permanent ban, and I would have appreciated a warning or clarification rather than immediate removal.

      My hinge account was immediately shadowbanned upon making it. I have never used the app before in my life and when I made an account I was evidently shadowbanned right away, seeing the same profiles over and over again and not getting any matches. I tried to delete it and make a new one to see if that would remove it and it did not. I have not used tinder for almost 2 years and I never got banned on it either so I do not understand why or how my account got this shadowban. This practice of covertly banning users across platforms with no warning, explanation, or method of recourse is unethical and an abuse of monopoly power. I request that I at least get a clear explanation for this shadowban if not a removal of it.

      I am rejecting this response because:  I have just downloaded the app a few days ago with a new profile and have had 0 quality matches and perhaps 3 likes total. I have even paid for hinge x and have gotten no improvement. I have a brand new profile that I put effort into with good pictures and I paid to have priority swipes. theres no reason it shouldnt be working. I am totally confused and I feel cheated out of my money. I would like hinge to do a deeper investigation on why this is happening. All I want is to find good women to go on dates with, please give me some more clarity on why and how this is happening and to have it fixed. If you cant give me a refund please, because if hinge x leaves you with 0 quality matches than that is false advertisement.

      I am rejecting this response because: I have not only broadened my criteria, I have purchased hinge x which should give priority likes. Yet I have still not found a single match. I have a good profile with pictures better than my old tinder profile which got thousands of matches, it is brand new and I am using it in a major metropolitan area, there is absolutely no explanation for having no results at all. Especially since I am paying extra. It is extremely frustrating to have paid for priority likes to get put at the top of the pile, yet I am very obviously at the bottom of the pile and being gaslit about it on this channel and through hinge support. Either fix my profile so I am getting what I paid for, or give me a refund.

      I am filing this complaint against Hinge (*****************) regarding the unjust banning of my account and the companys refusal to provide a clear explanation, evidence, or a fair appeals process.After being banned from the app without warning, I submitted a data request. The data provided by Hinge did not contain any record of reports, violations, or evidence of harmful behavior. I was not given a reason for the ban only a vague reference to their Terms of Service and "flirty messages," which do not constitute misconduct.I appealed the decision multiple times and requested a manual review. Hinge responded with generic statements about protecting user safety and claimed the ban was final. They have since refused to reconsider, despite never providing any specific allegation or evidence of wrongdoing.Furthermore, they are now retaining my personal data including sensitive information such as my photos for up to two years or longer, which I believe is excessive and not justified based on their reasoning. Ive raised this concern under data protection law and am now escalating to the Better Business Bureau in hopes of receiving a fair, human review of my case and a path to reinstatement.I am a genuine, respectful user who enjoyed using ********************.       I am rejecting this response because:   

      Hinge has failed to provide any meaningful explanation for the ban on my account, despite multiple requests through formal channels, direct appeals, and now through the BBB.

      While I understand the need to protect the privacy of other users, I also have a right to understand the basis of the action taken against me, especially when it has significant personal impact and involves the retention of my sensitive personal data, including photographs.

      In reviewing the data Hinge provided in response to my Subject Access Request, I found no indication of reports, violations, or internal justification for the ban. Their vague statement citing a breach of Terms of Service without any supporting detail is insufficient, particularly given the emotional and social consequences of being banned from a platform that plays a key role in modern dating. I have not broken any of the following Hinge guidelines: Hate speech, Harassment, Sexually explicit content, Offensive language, Creation of fake accounts, provision of false information, or catfishing, Solicitation, involving requests for money or promotion of services. 

      If I had done anything wrong, a warning should have been first given, not complete banning from the platform.

      I also believe the indefinite retention of my personal data, particularly my images, is disproportionate and excessive relative to the stated purpose of enforcing bans or defending against potential legal claims. 

      Hinges repeated refusal to offer transparency, proportionality, or a genuine appeals process is troubling. I have acted in good faith throughout this process and feel Ive been treated unfairly and dismissively by a platform I have paid for, enjoyed and respected.

      This rejection is submitted not simply to reverse the ban (though I still believe it is unjust), but to formally document that Hinges conduct has not met reasonable expectations of accountability, fairness, or good customer service.

      I am being treated like a criminal, when I have done nothing wrong. The app is full of profiles asking for money, sugar daddies, free flights and free dinner. In addition to fake unverified profiles. All against the the terms of service yet they are all still up and not banned. How can that be explained?

      You are happy to take my money. I've paid for hinge X 6 months subscription and not even half way through it and you banned me for no reason. 

      You're losing more and members evey year and match group stock price is tumbling. You can't afford to be banning legitimate customers. 

      I ask again to reinstate my and I never cause any trouble again. I will continue to fight this until so.

      I recently download the hinge app and bought the premium services, however within days of being on app my account was banned without a ************** reasons were given by hinge and my appeal was declined.I have not violated any of the hinges terms of service.       I am rejecting this response because:   

      The terms of Hinge were not violated by the activity from my account.

      Even if the ban was processed after human review there is a possibility of error or misunderstanding. If a particular activity triggered the ban or review of the same, which I'm unaware of because its not disclosed might be a genuine mistake with no Ill intention or malice towards other users or Hinge.

      I request Hinge to please reinstate my account as there no reason for ban. 

      If hinge persists that they can ban or take action without any reason and explanation Kudos to the s***** policies and zero consumer satisfaction from Hinge's side.

      The appeal request has stated nothing but that your account will remain banned.

      I don't know how many more times I'll have to state it but the account does not violate any of the hinges policy.

      If the ban was triggered due to someone reporting the account, the user should have a chance to put forward his stance on the same.

      I am rejecting this response for the following reasons: Hinge continues to demonstrate poor business practices by failing to offer a fair and transparent appeals process. The company routinely bans users without providing any specific evidence of misconduct or a meaningful opportunity to present their side of the story. While Hinge claims its actions are intended to "protect" other users, it does not conduct thorough investigations or disclose the rationale behind its decisions. This lack of transparency is comparable to a credit card company making adverse decisions that affect a person's credit score without explanationan issue so serious that it led to the creation of consumer protection laws like the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Similarly, Hinge's current approach results in users being unfairly banned, often due to false or retaliatory reports, while forfeiting the money they paid for premium subscriptions. There is no reasonable recourse or accountability in these situations, which is unacceptable for a consumer-facing platform. As such, I have consumer complains with BBB, Texas Secretary of State (where Hinge maintains a PO Box), and the New York Secretary of State (where Hinge's HQ is located).

      For some reason the company behind hinge banned my account whilst I had an active subscription.When I appealed they provided no explanation as to why my account was banned just that it would remain banned. Every time I ask for an explanation they don't reply or give any explaination as to why. The only possible reason is my ex started making fake accounts of me and maybe it flagged up because of that, but again I have tried to explain that to no avail.       I have done the appeal process they suggested in their reply and they don't actually state what terms you have breached to ban you. 
      also when you ask for an explanation you are ignored completely. I have tried this approach as it is my last resort to get actual answers or have my ban lifted which shouldn't be in place.

      Hinge Ban without any explanation or a response to my appeal.I have been waiting for their response to my appeal and instead when I try to log in it still says I can appeal.       I am rejecting this response because:   Your terms and conditions are large and vague so that they may be used in different situations. This allows you to ban people as you wish and not provide a valid reason claiming its protecting someones privacy.

      There is no consistency as there are many people getting away with violating these everyday. It also allows people to freely report anyone and end up being banned, which is bound to happen as a dating app can easily cause arguments as well as positive conversations.

      However none of this means someone may violate your terms and conditions once and that they wont do it again. Otherwise there would be no one left on the app.

      A better approach needs to be taken especially if no reason for the ban has ever been given. I believe due to the time that has passed, I should be allowed back on the app and that it is not just to ban an individual for life as if they are incapable of change.

      I strongly urge you to reconsider.
