I called AAA on March 29th to tow my car to my storage. The tow truck driver came and loaded the car. I asked the tow truck driver if I can ride with him to go to the storage. He told me, “No you don’t need to go with me.” I was under the impression that my van was there inside the storage facility. I went to the storage on April 15th to get something from the van and I realized that the van was not here. I didn’t receive any calls from AAA or the tow company that they had impounded my van. Now they are charging me $963 to release my van. I don’t think this is right as I only wanted to tow my van to the storage facility. I didn’t receive any calls that it’s been impounded. I’m disabled and need help with this problem. I’m on a set income and don’t have extra money to release my van. I have important documents and things inside the van. I appreciate all the help you will provide for this problem. Thank you.Business response

Yes, I remember this call. When our operator arrived to the destination he came to the conclusion that there is no safe way to unload this customers vehicle into a storage unit. There was not enough room so it could’ve lead to damages to the vehicle and safety of the operator.
We did try to contact this customer several times about this situation and where they would like the van to go. The customer never answered. We left voicemails and the customer then called back a few days later. We informed him to come get his vehicle but he never showed up. So we had no choice but to move forward with the state guidelines with impounding vehicle and sending notices. Once this customer realized leaving his vehicle in our impound wasn’t free he became upset.
Long story short if he would’ve came and removed his vehicle or had it towed to an adequate location there wouldn’t of been additional charges but he choose to leave his personal property unattended for an unusual length of time and is now upset with us on his poor choices.
