I took my vehicle to Dave's Ultimate Automotive in **********, ** to have them check out a P0430 engine error code. They diagnosed as loose intake bolts but found other issues that we mutually agreed to get take care of. They diagnosed a rear leaking freeze plug - repair cost $1200. Turned out to be a misdiagnosis. Required them to pull the transmission. We discussed this and I decided to have them do a clutch replacement since transmission was already removed. Initial estimate on that was $800 but ballooned to over $1400 with no explanation. They finally finished all repairs and gave the vehicle a clean bill of health for a final total of $3475. Drove the vehicle 8 miles to my house. By the time I got home the vehicle had a rough idle and was now generating P0403, P0420, P0171, and P0174 codes. ****'s Ultimate refuses to investigate the problem free of charge. All these codes are related to the work performed by the shop. The clean bill of health was a fraud and they didn't fix the original problem.Business response

We have reached out to ****************** several times to persuade him to bring the vehicle back in to recheck the work as clearly things have worsened. Our suspicion was that ************** might have accidentally created a problem during repair that is presenting as these new issues and stated such to the client. We had originally stated that the diagnosis would be free unless we found a new problem which might have sounded like we were going to be dishonest but to clarify we will not charge further diagnosis regardless of the findings. We absolutely want to work through this matter.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: Their response is utter nonsense and doesn't align with reality. I gave them 1/2 day to agree to re-diagnose the problem at no cost to me and they refused. By they time they decided to respond I was ready to move on. I had already wasted 10 days and $3475 from the time I originally put the vehicle in their shop until I got it back with the vehicle seemingly having a worse problem than when it originally arrived at their shop.I took the vehicle to another shop already because their response was too slow and their concern and dedication to customer service is severely lacking. I will be sending them a bill for any repairs related to the work they performed. I don't expect them to pay up but I'm going to send them a bill anyway.
Regards,

On July 14, 2022 I had my car towed to Daves because, as I told them, it stalled twice while I was driving; I thought it was over-heating; there was a problem with the window washer reservoir; and it needed an oil change.I saw the car when it was loaded on the tow truck and driven a short distance on the street. It did not make any sound or weird noises at all. It also did not stall. Around July 21st, ***** (from Daves) called and told me the car was fixed and ready. ***** assured me the mechanic "drove it all around" for a test drive. Instead, as I soon learned, the car was a messit was in worse condition than before. I paid ****'s $975.43 (with my **** card.) Attached is the invoice, which I saw for the first time after I paid.As I drove away from ****'s, the car was completely un-driveable. It would weave or "pull" from side to side constantly, and the engine revved up and down wildly. ****'s could not have fixed it or test-driven it. I did not get any value whatsoever from my expenditure of $975.43. I turned around and drove back to ****'s. They had no explanation for how they could tell me to pick up my car, when they knew it was in such bad condition.I left the car with them for further repair, but on July 29, 2022, the new manager, ******, called me and said ***** had been in a wreak with my car. I have heard from ****** that he thinks there is engine damage and frame damage and that the car cannot be started.I want the car to be fixed, if it can be fixed, without charge to me. Or I want a replacement vehicle. I am not looking to gain anything. I am asking to be put in the same position I was in before Daves wreaked my car after doing a faulty repair. If we cannot reach agreement on that, I am not willing to pay $975.43 for a repair that did more harm than good.I do not believe a competent mechanic has evaluated the car at this time.I attach the invoice for the $975.43, and photos.Business response
