Milton W**** my technician today did a terrific job replacing a faucet and a faucet cartridge on another. I'd have to say he is one of the best, very knowledgeable, professional, polite, courteous and friendly. I will keep his name on file and hopefully have him do other jobs for me in the future. He is a good one!!! Hard to find today such a highly qualified tech as Milton W**** today.

Terrible customer service from management and dispatchers. Had pipe bursting emergency over Christmas. They came out but didn't finish the job. Said we were on schedule for following week but never came. In the interim we had another active leak. Was told by dispatcher we were second on list on Christmas morning. They never showed up. When we called, they lied and said we were never on the list. Then they never came to fix either leak but did bill us for over $1,000. We were without running water for 6 days while we waited for a reputable company to be honest and fix our issues. Needless to say we will never use Holt again. BUYER BE WARE!! THESE GUYS ARE LIARS. USE *** ******* INSTEAD.

I am sorry we did not meet your expectations. The terrible temperatures at the end of December left many people calling us at once. We could not answer all the calls for several days even while we were fully staffed, so it is possible that someone did fail to get your return call on the schedule. While we tried to handle the madness as best we could, I am sorry we disappointed you.

I can't even start with the number of times Holt Plumbing has saved me. Multiple times at the beginning and during the pandemic when no one would come out and my house was hit by the tornado. From installing 2 vanities (I needed to remove due to air issues), fixing outdoor spigots, replacing a water heater (and giving me a deal on a bigger one), replacing shower knob, and even coming out for a super backed up toilet. They've given me the chance to ask questions and send them issues with an office manager contacting me and giving me suggestions to try first before having a serviceman come out and saving me hundreds of dollars(!) on a few things I could fix myself and saving me time. Great family business and I've met multiple different plumbers that have all been great. Couldn't recommend more!

Holt Plumbing has helped me on numerous occasions with a variety of issues (installing a washer box, repairing a water heater, and locating a leak) at a rental property. They've been responsive, reasonable, and very communicative. Couldn't ask for much more!

1600+ dollars so far to clear a simple clog and it’s still not fixed. 9 hours late to the water jet appointment. Flooded my bathroom, twice! The helper didn’t know how to install a toilet (first the pressure line then the wax seal). I had to chase them backing up the driveway as they left it flooding! Double charged the camera fee ($495) because they didn’t have the water jet with them. Toilet still won’t flush, tub won’t drain. Called to try and get them to stand behind their work and they wanted to schedule another $1100 trip to try and do the work they never did the first time. Don’t get ripped off like I did, take your business somewhere else.

I have used Holt Plumbing Company LLC for years, but the company's work quality and morale have turned bad - getting billed for services not provided, and then the manager (Rick) being rude and threatening, instead of actually resolving their fraudulent billing practice.

      Holt Plumbing Company, LLC Response

      02/15/2022

Services were provided to the customer. The customer had us out on 1/6, the first snow day this year. He had a leaking hydrant on his home. Parts were not available due to businesses being closed from the snow storm. The tech onsite made a plan with the customer to remove the hydrant and capped the water line off serving the hydrant for the time being. We did fail set up a return trip for this job properly, but we did fix an active leak on out first trip, which we have photo evidence of. This customer is accusing of us of fraud and claims no work was done, this is not the case. We have labor and parts involved in the job and as mentioned, we stopped an active leak.

The customer also states that a snake crawled into his crawl space from the hole where the leaking hydrant use to be. He is saying we are responsible for the bill for the snake removal. Seeing as this work was done on a snow day in the middle of winter, I do find this unlikely. Not to mention, the hole where the leaking hose bib was removed is approximately 3 feet off the ground. Any snake that could have reached the hole, would likely be too large to fit in the hole were we removed the leaking hydrant.

The threats the customer is referring to, is being told that his bill would be send to collections if he did not pay the bill. We provided a service to this customer and have parts and labor and involved. I have apologized for his bill slipping through and for us failing to set up a return trip. The customer was not interested in us making this right in anyway other than us deleting the charges for our trip to his home and the parts we used to stop an active leak.

Holt Plumbing needs to get it together. I have no idea which customer Holt Plumbing's rude reply is talking about. My review of 02/15/2022 had nothing to do with the reply this company posted as a reply. Who are you referring to? But then any company replying in such a rude manner like that has no business calling themselves an A+ BBB business. Your reply about the customer only buttressed my point that you're rude and have fraudulent billing practices. Probably another customer with similar terrible experience with Holt. Zero sense of accountability.

The only thing good about this experience was the conversation on Friday night with the guy that answered the phone and the fact there is now water flowing once again to the house. It was what happened in-between that was unprofessional and unfair including price gouging and cashing in on a bad situation. On Friday 12/17, a call was placed to the company with all information pertaining to a leak somewhere from the meter to the house. Information was given on the footage from the meter, that I wanted the entire pipe replaced and to bring the proper equipment and man power for digging the trench. To avoid the emergency weekend fee, I opted to wait until Monday and an agreement was in place for $159 the first hour and $100 after that. On Monday 12/20, a single technician arrived shortly before noon with no equipment calmly stating he would not be able to do that kind of job until after the first of the year. (Observation 1 - If this was true, it should have been disclosed on Friday night). (Observation 2 - the technician either was not given or did not acknowledge the work order details as he came to the job site empty handed). (Observation 3 - the technician said there was "no way" to get a tractor out to dig that day so I advised then that he was on the clock and to grab a shovel and call in a helper to start digging.) He then claimed to make some phone calls and came back with a quote of almost 3K to get the pipe replaced that day. I reluctantly agreed because I had to have water and could not wait until "after the holidays". He came back (almost too quickly) with the tractor and a helper, finished the job in roughly 4 hours, got their money and left. After calculating what the expected job cost would have been (based on the initial quote, labor, hours and tractor fees, as well as extensive knowledge of the cost of parts and typical 20% upcharge) this dollar amount was inflated by approximately $1,200. To top it off, they cut the ground wiring to the house, left the crawl space underlay in disarray, did not pick up their trash and were actually going to leave without seeding the yard. Upon calling and speaking with "Rick" (could have been Eric, the owner - unsure) about these problems and asking why the large upcharge, he was unwilling to discuss what the extra amount was for then stated an electrician would have to fix the ground wiring and all he could do was to send someone back out to straighten the underlay. He did admit that the wording on the contract was written in only after all the work was completed then kept saying he wasn't going to change anything because we agreed to the price before the work started. I certainly want people to be paid and have no argument with that. I have typically opted for local business rather than chains because I am OK with paying a little more to help out the smaller businesses. However, it is unfair business practice to arrive at a job unprepared, threaten the customer in a no win situation while raising the cost to cover their own mistake and failure to plan. This is not good customer service, very unprofessional and is basically a way to take advantage of people when you know you have them backed into a corner. To say I am disappointed with this company is an understatement. The attitude and complete disregard to discuss this business transaction is infuriating. Holt has been around for a long time, but their days will be numbered if they continue this type of treatment of their neighbors. I will not recommend them as a reputable business for the community as I care about my neighbors and do not want to see them taken advantage of.

When ************** called in on the evening of 12/17/21 the description given to our dispatcher was that she had a leak in her crawl space. She was quoted one man rate in regular time based off the description given. When our tech arrived onsite 12/20/21 we diagnosed that the leak was unground in the yard. At this point, the customer requested the entire water line be replaced from the meter, through the yard, and into the crawl space. The proper decision was made, this is the best way to resolve these types of leaks. When it comes to large jobs like this, we normally provide a price and schedule the work for a later date. The customer insisted we do the work same day. We provided the customer with a price to preform the full line replacement, she agreed to the price and we were able to rearrange the schedule to accommodate her request. After the work was completed and paid for, she called in a spoke with me. The customer voiced her complaints listed above. She calculated what she thought she should have paid for the work based off of our, one man, basic labor rate, as opposed to our tractor and dig crew rates. I explained to the customer that we have different rates for jobs that including digging with a tractor and a two man crew. The price she agreed to prior to the work being done and paid in full after the work was completed is based off of our dig crew rates. I offered to have our tech return to pick up the trash the customer states was left behind as well as spread out the under lay in the crawl space that she said was moved. The customer cursed me out and hung up the phone when she realized I would not be adjusting the price she agreed to pay for services completed.

When I called on Friday night I explained the entire leak situation to the gentleman who called me back. I explained that there was a leak in the one inch galvanized water supply piping to the house that was approximately thirty feet of piping that ran from the waterbox to the crawl space under the house. I explained that the entire pipe would need to be dug up and replaced as if the leak was found and clamped or cut out that the pressure would go to the next weakest spot and possibly cause another leak which would in turn cause another call out. The gentleman stated it would be 259.00 dollars for the first house and 159.00 per each additional hour if they came out Saturday, the next day. He then stated that if I would wait until Monday the price would be 159.00 for the first hour and 100.00 for each additional hour after that. He never mentioned anything about a tractor charge even though I had told him the entire line would need to be dug up. He even ask me if I was a plumber at which point I told him no. He said "well you know more than most plumbers I talk to". I advised him I would wait until Monday even though I had to be without water the entire weekend. Well Monday comes and the serviceman shows up. He advised after standing around for almost forty minutes that he would need to have a tractor and proceeded to show me the pricing list for a tractor which was 1000.00 for four hours. I told him that was fine. He then said he couldn't do the job until after the first of the year. I ask him why was I never told of the tractor cost although I had told the gentleman on the phone the entire line would have to be dug up and replaced. Needless to say I was upset that I would have no water for two more weeks and had company coming in for Christmas. The gentleman went under my house than came back out and said he could do the job for 2985.00. At this point there was no other alternative since I had already waited three days already after the advice of the dispatcher. I told him to go ahead and do the job.

After he said he was done and finishing up I ask him is he was going to seed the yard. He said: I can if you want me to but I don't have any seed". I put this in the initial report along with all the other mishaps except now the backfill has left holes in my yard and under my sidewalk which will cause it to sink and have to be repaired. Yet another cost from this. I called the company and spoke to R. Holt. After advising him of the issues and asking him to explain the extra charge of which he would not do. He just said "what can I do to make this better and I again said you can explain the extra charges. He said he would send the guy back out to fix the underlay and pickup the debris. I told him i didn't want the guy back out here especially if I wasn't home because he didn't do the job right the first time why would I want him back out here especially if I wasn't home. At that point I just slammed the phone down. I wasn't going
      to get anywhere with him.

I do not have a problem paying for services rendered and even a little excess for the tractor misunderstanding. I figured the bill up and got 1000.00 for the tractor plus 159.00 for the first hour and 100.00 for each additional hour along with supplies with a 100 percent markup or more and still wondered where the extra 1276.00 came from. Since I didn't have an itemized bill other than the total price showing 2985.00 I called to get some explanation. Well that didn't happen at all. Mister Holt just said well you agreed to the price. I admit to that but when someone has you backed into a corner, what do you do?

I can provide any needed pictures to what I have explained if necessary. I am sending those photos to Mr. Holt as well.

      Thank you for your time,
      **************

I apologize for any misunderstanding surrounding this situation. I attempted to explain on the phone that the break down you have listed above is not how we figure our dig crew rates. The customer does not get charged a tractor rate in addition to labor rates. The tractor rates are figured with labor. For this job, if we had done it in time and materials, the first 3 hours would have been charged at $1,125.00 and each additional hour would have been charged at $375.00 per hour. However, this job was not done on a time and materials basis. This job was quoted at a set price, which you agreed to and paid after we completed the service in a timely manner at your request.
I am able to offer an affidavit stating that you had an active water leak that was repaired. If you had an exceedingly high water bill, this can be submitted to your water company to receive a refund for the increased charges on your bill due to the leak.
Once again, I apologize that you feel you were backed into a corner and over charged. Have a great day.

Holt plumbing co. Set up 2 different appointments 2 weeks in a row and completely lost the appointments on their computer ( or pen and paper) . I have to go to extreme measures to take a day off during the week to meet a plumber at the house. My wife and I are both very angry that Holt could be so incompetent and unprofessional. I will never call them again and will warn everyone I know in Nashville about this terrible and unnecessary experience.

Well what a long story. Initially I was happy with this company. Then I had them come to my home for a sink installation and they wanted me to drill the holes? So I did... I overlooked this. Then I had them come to install a garbage disposal and thought everything performed correctly. I was happy with this service or so I thought.. Then I had them come to repair a toilet which they fixed and left wobbly (ended up having to come back for the wobble). Then out of know where, 1 year later after paying top dollar for the garbage disposal, come to find out, it had a leak due to incorrect installation. As everyone has, I have soaps under the sink therefore I wasnt able to see this until cleaning it out. I called The manager of this company, as I was told to from their technician (who charged me $300 for 10 min roughly) and the manager told me too bad, so sad we escaped responsibility since it's been a year we can't help you. So I have to pay for brand new cabinetry now. All in all if you want to end up feeling like you should've completed the work yourself, feeling the work wasn't completed correctly, and have to fix your house and replace their "top of the line" products one year later then use this company. Very disappointing for me. I suppose this company forgot they are here to serve their clients professionally.
