I had surgery April 13, 2022 at Tri Star Medical Center in Dickson Tn. The hospital collected my deductible the day of the procedure. My physician billed my insurance before the hospital and they now want to be paid. I had to call Tri Star myself to get them to initiate a refund. They agreed they owe me 312.00 and said it would be mailed to me. I have called now several times and I just get the run around. I went to the ER a week after my surgery and now have a 50.00 co pay. Tri Star is sending a bill for this to be paid and I am not paying this till I get my refund. It's a shame I have to reach out to the BBB to get some help in getting a refund that is due me.

I have been trying to get medical records released and sent from Nashville hospital to Ohio hospital. The lady at Nashville Health Information Management Service Center told me over the phone how to fill out the release form, said that fax was the easiest way and to put the receiving hospital's fax number. A few days later I called Ohio hospital to see if they received the records. They had not. I called HSC to get an update and the same lady told me I filled the form out wrong, that I didn't include the hospital name where the care was given. It had been days since the request was faxed, so I was upset that no one called to tell me that. I re-faxed with the hospital name added. Finally, the Ohio hospital received the records. But not the images from radiology scans. So I called back to the Nashville HSC and a different lady told me I needed to fill out a new form (same form) to request radiology images. So I did that. She also told me to mark it STAT since the surgery consult can't take place until all the records are available for the doctor. I faxed a new form same day. And got a fax confirmation. One week later I called the Ohio hospital, they still hadn't received the images. I called the Nashville HSC again and it was the same lady I originally spoke with. She said they never received the fax for images. I told her I had confirmation in my hand. She said "First of all, I don't even have to speak to you because you aren't the patient". I'm his girlfriend, the call was on speaker phone and he was sitting right beside me, and I told her that. She responded by saying if it was that important I should have the doctor's office request the records. I told her I agreed, but nonetheless, I was the one requesting and I don't understand why it is so difficult and taking so long to get the records. At this point it had been 19 days since I originally requested records. The lady got frustrated with me and hung up on me. At one point during the call she asked me to hold but didn't put me on hold. I listened as she had a conversation with someone at her office chit-chatting about nothing to do with work. My boyfriend is waiting to have a surgery consult that would be life saving. This company's job is to send medical records. 21 days after the initial request and we are still waiting. By the way, a 248 page fax is not the most appropriate way to send medical records. Lives literally depend on these records and I feel this company should hire people who get that, and fire people who don't.
