      This complaint is in regards to fuel purchased at Jerry's Citgo on 3 Sept 2021. Immediately after completing filling my vehicle with fuel from this business, I encountered major mechanical problems and had to have my vehicle towed to a maintenance facility, ************************. I immediately contacted the business, 4 Sept 2021, and informed the attendant/representative that I've been informed the gas purchased was contaminated/poor. The attendant advised me to contact Citgo HQ. Additionally, I contacted the TN Dept of Agriculture and an inspector visited the facility on 7 Sep 2021. The inspector found the fuel to be out of specifications and a citation was issued to correct the fuel. Citgo representatives identified a distributor, Tri Star Energy, as the point of contact that could assist with my complaint. I was informed by Tri Star representatives that they were not responsible for maintaining the tanks at Jerry's Citgo/Market. I was given an email address, *******************, as the individual who could help me with my complaint. Upon discussing the circumstances of my complaint, this individual informed me that his insurance company didn't feel the complaint was valid as only one complaint had been received. Despite providing this merchant with all the necessary information to respond favorably to my request to pay for my repairs, and only my repairs, the merchant suggested some theory that my vehicle problem was a result of purchasing fuel from other establishments that may have had water and when I purchased fuel from their facility it only pushed the water to the top/bottom. My vehicle was on empty when I purchased the fuel from Jerry's Citgo and I purchased a full tank of gas, moments later (approx 2 to 3 miles) my vehicle became inoperative.

      Business Response /* (1000, 15, 2022/01/19) */ CITGO Petroleum Corporation ("hereinafter referred to as CITGO") is in receipt of Darryl ******' ("Mr. ******") bad gas claim outlined in Better Business Bureau of Middle Tennessee ("BBB") Case ********* regarding an alleged incident that occurred at Jerry's CITGO at**********************, Nashville, TN 37218 ("Location") on September 3, 2021. In terms of the substance of Mr. ******' claim, it appears there may be some confusion regarding the ownership and operation of the Location. CITGO does not own, operate, manage, control, or maintain the service station that sells CITGO branded products at the Location. In fact, CITGO's only connection with the Location is that CITGO supplied branded gasoline products to its marketer/distributor, which in turn supplied these products to the Location. We regret to hear of Mr. ******' alleged damage to his vehicle. However, as of today, CITGO has no knowledge of our products being the source of any bad gas claim in this locality. Furthermore, if they were, our marketers/distributors sell the products to consumers; not CITGO. Nonetheless, CITGO has agreed to furnish, as a courtesy, Mr. ****** with its Good Gas Guaranteed Program. Lastly, please be advised that ******* ******* is not employed, nor is affiliated, with Jerry's CITGO. Please remove her name from this claim and all other correspondence of this case. Consumer Response /* (2000, 17, 2022/01/24) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) There is a clear recognition that the marketer is incapable of producing petroleum products. However, there are three known parties associated with my complaint. All parties fail to acknowledge responsibility. Citgo has provided me their Good Gas program complaint form and this has been completed and returned. I'm presently awaiting Citgo's review of my complaint for a final determination. On it's face, it appears Citgo and it's distributor are placing the responsibility on the marketer for the bad gas. The marketer has failed to response to repeated requests.
