Our house was burned by fire. Statefarm has helped us to get a lease on a house and furnish our home for a year. CORT FURNITURE was hired to provide us with furniture. We were told the bedding was new and new sheets were also installed. After a couple of days, both my wife and me broke out in bites and blood dripping on our sheets. We contacted the property manager Monday and today Saturday the bug guy came. We had massive bed bugs and when we pulled off the sheets the bedding was absolutely FILTHY! After fumigating today, we bought a new vacuum and vacuumed JUST THE CORT FURNITURE FILTHY KING MATRESS. Sending photo's of the FILTH this company is poising our community with. We watch our one year old grandson and HE TOO has been biten with this garbage from CORT FURNITURE. I have filled out a health department complaint, I hope you can get this Filthy Company to stop hurting their customers.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/08/23) */ Contact Name and Title: Jeffrey Seidman, VPHR Contact Phone: 7039688521 Contact Email: [email protected] The desired resolution made by Mr. and Ms. Nork was complied with. We were notified on August 2nd that they discovered "bed bugs" on the mattress that was provided and that the premises were to be treated by a pest control company. On August 7th, we were notified and told that the mattress needed to be replaced asap. We scheduled the replacement of the mattress and provided two new mattresses for the customer to choose from. The customer wanted CORT to cover the cost of treatment which was agreed to. CORT takes great care to ensure that its furniture is stored and handled in a way that prevents an infestation of any insect including Cimicidae (commonly known as bed bugs). Our policies and practices include regular inspections of our warehouse facilities by third party pest control companies. Prior to a delivery of our furniture, our delivery personnel will inspect the property to see if they detect any signs of an infestation, if they do, the delivery is not completed until the property is treated. If no signs of an infestation are detected the delivery is completed. On pick up, the property and furniture are inspected before it is removed from the property. If an infestation is discovered, the product is treated and then either transported in a rental vehicle to a sanitary landfill where it is disposed of or "baked" in a heating unit that eradicates all insects that may be in the product. Upon return to the warehouse, all furniture including mattresses and other bedding is sanitized using an EPA approved sanitization chemical. Mattresses are sealed in plastic and placed in storage. Before furniture is picked and placed in the delivery truck, it is inspected in the warehouse to ensure that there is not an infestation of the furniture. CORT nationally, and the team in Memphis, locally, have experience in managing within its protocols to ensure that our customers have a great experience when renting or purchasing furniture. As part of our training to our employees we ensure that they understand the history of Cimicidae so that they can educate our customers. Cimicidae was completely eradicated with the use of DDT. However, DDT was found to have some environmental impacts that made its usage illegal. With no viable alternative, Cimicidae became a problem in the United States. It is often unknown where they come from as they can be carried in a dormant state in peoples luggage, clothing, personal furniture and such. Cimicidae is not an indication of hygiene or social standings as it can infest high end luxury hotels and residences as well as many hotels in all classes. While Mr. and Mrs. Noke believe that the Cimicidae came from CORT's furniture, and it is understandable that they would look to the mattress as the source, our experiences guide us to a not discount the possibility that the infestation source was already present in the premises. Customers are welcome to visit our warehouse facility to view the product storage area and to see the care that is taken to prevent insect infestations. We work diligently to ensure that we protect our customers health and safety and our proud of our record of doing so. We welcome any comments or further feedback on this and are happy to answer any questions.
