I traded in a car that I bought from here. I canceled the warranty and can't get Skyline to refund my money. Found out from the warranty company that the dealership is paid the money you pay for the warranty, the warranty company only manages claims, which basically cover nothing, so you're really giving the dealership an extra $2,000 for nothing. Skyline has had my notice of refund since December, and the contract says it's refundable, so Skyline is stealing my refund. Also, the warranty plan stinks, doesn't cover much, though it was helpful, since the van I bought needed a new alternator within a month of buying it. I received $40 towards my week long rental car.

Three months ago. less than two weeks drove suv bought there. TN needs a lemon law. This vehicle had bad Cadillac converters and needed a new engine and was not driveable with less than two weeks. We had warranty, said they didn't cover that on warranty anymore. They hung up phone and refused to even speak to us to try and resolve something. Out almost 8,000-9,000 total and completely heart broke. The two mechanics who inspected vehicle also said mileage had been altered!

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/12/05) */ Mrs. *******, thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We are sorry for any inconvenience that you have experienced. When we had this car for sale, we were not aware that it had a bad catalytic converter. We purchase our used cars from an auction and trade-in, they are sold "AS IS" which means any defects or flaws are not our responsibility and they will not be covered by a warranty. That is the reason we offer a third party warranty called ASC warranty which has different coverages depending on the price. You purchased a basic powertrain warranty which does not cover catalytic converters. We understand that any used car with a high mileage car have issues down the road. If we were aware of the issue, we would take it back to the auction. As for the mileage, it would be shown on the Carfax report that it has a mileage inconsistency. If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us.

On February 8, 2022 I financed a used car (2011 Subaru Outback 3.6R) from Skyline Motors with an ASC warranty. The auto loan is with Y-12 for $10K+ and we traded in our Honda Element. My husband and I brought the car to a reputable mechanic on February 11, and they told us there was so much rust under the vehicle that they would hesitate to even make simple repairs, on the brakes, for example. The warranty does not cover the repairs the car needs from rust damage. There is paint to cover up rust, which is why my husband and friends didn't detect it prior to the sale. We attempted to negotiate with the salespeople at Skyline for a better trade or a reversal of the sale; they haven't agreed, denying their misrepresentation of the state of the car, denying painting over rust, and claiming that the owner is out of the country. We checked other cars on the lot and those we checked have the same problems; there are similar complaints to ours online of Skyline Motors' dishonest transactions. We are hoping for the BBB's assistance in reaching an agreement with Skyline. We are a young couple, with modest funds (this is my first ever auto loan), and we cannot absorb the cost of their dishonesty.

      Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2022/03/01) */ Contact Name and Title: Johnny R. Salesman Contact Phone: (XXX) XXX-XXXX Contact Email: ***************@gmail.com On February 22nd, Mrs. ******** and her husband visited our office to discuss the problems with the car. We negotiated with them to resolve this issue. We offered her to do repairs with free labor cost. Also, our company gave them $600 that would cover all the repair costs on the Subaru Outback. They left us a letter stating that they do not have any more complaints for Skyline Motors. The claim has been resolved between both parties. Consumer Response /* (3000, 9, 2022/03/01) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) My husband and I did visit Skyline Motors and discussed with Alex, the owner, the problems with the car. We had previously attempted to reverse the sale or trade the Subaru Outback in for another vehicle on their lot with less rust, but Skyline did not agree. At our last visit, we were offered on-sale replacement parts and free labor by the lot's mechanic (I'm not sure where he works exactly); we refused this offer given the fact that this same mechanic either didn't notice or hadn't cared to inform the lot/potential sellers about the extremely rusty, structural damage to the vehicle. We received $600 from Alex in cash, though we requested our total down payment back of $2000. In total, we spent (and will spent with our auto loan) over $12,000 for a car most mechanics in the area won't agree to work on. The actual costs of the vehicle repair including trustworthy labor will most likely exceed $2000, but Alex wouldn't agree to pay us more than $600. I did not in fact write a letter stating that we do not have any more complaints for Skyline Motors; I wrote simply that we had received $600 for future repairs. We still request to have our down payment returned in full (an additional $1400) and for this business to in some public way be held accountable for falsely representing the state of their vehicles.

Purchased a 2011 Toyota Tacoma used that had the airbags non functional and sensors removed. The hazard light switch was also removed. I found out a few days after purchasing the truck and had to take it to A Toyota dealer. The dealer told me this truck could not be legally sold as it had no hazard lights and no sensors operating the airbags. They repaired both but cost me over $700 within the first week of owning the truck. The second week There was a short in the break lights costing me another $363. I attempted to reach the owner of the dealer for over 4 weeks and he just kept canceling and refused to meet. I continued to call and was told that the owner Jack stated he had no intention of contacting me or resolving the issue. I was being fair and asking them to reimburse only the safety airbag and I would cover the brake lights. They refused to even talk about it. Cars are sold as is but also learned not when it comes to hazard lights since 1986 and airbags since 1996.
