My husband attended an event in August in Texas. I wasn't able to go with him because I was taking care of my mother's home after she passed away. The salesperson was very good at his job because he sold my husband 2 lots. My husband asked if he could call me before he signed the paper and he knew I needed to know. They said you have 10 minutes to call her. I didn't pick up the phone call because I was trying to sell my mom's home around that time. When my husband went to call me privately he said he turned around and the man was right next to him. He told him that he needed to get back to the tent. They are very high pressured sales people and if you can run away. and Please read the contract carefully. If you don't get financed with your bank they make you finance with them at a higher interest rate and they also have more added fees. Once I got home I told him no we couldn't do that. So when we tried to cancel it has now gone to a lawsuit for fraud against us. It has been a nightmare and we have regrets. We were trying to retire and now we have to pay Lakewood a lot of money for getting nothing.Lakewood Capital Group, LLC Response

The Event you are referencing occurred on September 30th. Your husband opted for the first/Priority showing of our property. This a premium viewing time and is the earliest that we will show the property to any interested client. We have a tremendous demand for this showing time. After our Property Sale began, your husband chose to take 2 properties off the market. Once this is done, we are unable to offer those properties to any other customers at our sales event. After he took the properties off the market and removed them from the available inventory, he indicated that he needed to call his wife before he went through with the purchase. He was informed that if he was not comfortable purchasing the properties without his wife’s approval that we should put them back on the market immediately so that other potential customers could have the opportunity to purchase them. He stated that he wanted an hour to figure out if he wanted to move forward with the purchase. We informed him that we could not wait that long as we had over 100 other potential buyers on-site. If he was unsure of his purchase, we wanted to offer the properties to others as soon as possible. He consulted with his son, who was also on-site, and stated that he wished to move forward with the purchase. He completed the sales contract and wrote our closing attorney a deposit check for the purchase. We continued the event sale and turned away potential buyers once the property had been sold out. The following day once the sale was over, he notified us that he no longer wished to purchase the properties. He also put a stop payment on the deposit check to our Closing Attorney. Our contract states very plainly in multiple areas that there is not a right of recission and that the deposit will be liquidated as damages if the purchaser fails to close. Your husband prevented us from selling the property to over several hundred other people on the day of the sale. He took the properties off the market without being sure he was going to actually purchase them. He did not allow us to put the properties back on the market the day of the sale when we suggested that is what he should do if he was not sure of his decision. The owner financing offered is a much lower interest rate and less fees than a bank. He also wrote a bad check to our attorney. The only resolution we were looking for is for you to proceed with the contract that was agreed upon.Review from Mark H

Lakewood Capital Group ran a very well planned one day extravaganza to make available some outstanding land sites. The one day only was a little rough as I had to attend on that day even though only 2 days before I had undergone surgery...but, what could I do. The representative I dealt with was very helpful, professional, and pleasant. The sites were laid out interestingly, and we ended up buying one. In the end look to pay out about 25% of the sell price. After I agreed to buy, the people at Lakewood were responsive to my questions. If Lakewood had another opportunity in an area I had an interest, I would not hesitate to go take a look.Review from Amanda B

Lakewood Capital Group was great to work with from the cradle to the grave. We have worked with various team members. We started with Jim, who helped us set our appointment, and he was very responsive and helpful. Kelly showed us different lots. He was patient and very knowledgeable. Once we decided on a lot and started the process, we transitioned to Jessica. She helped us throughout the loan process. I recommend this company; they develop lots, provide customer service, and set expectations.Review from The Mayor

Wow what an experience. We went to look at newly developed property in our neighborhood and unexpected we bought 2 properties. Our sale person DJ was so upbeat and informative as we flew around in a golf cart with 100 other golf carts. Very organized event. We met alot of energective people during this experience and continued to meet more incredible people. Jim Rippy is a professional asset to this company. He has been able to answer all my questions and concerns. We bonded. I have a nickname. Aaron,BJ and JP are ready to tell you all about the property. Jessica Office Manger is very helpful and very quick to respond to email with questions. So far our experience has been upbeat and informative. We look forward to working together with everyone until transferred to us the land owners. Thank you all for making this experience for me so enjoyable! You guys rock!Review from Tim and Denise V

We bought a lot form Lakewood Capital Group at Preservation Point in Wilmington, NC. From start to finish the process, was smooth. By far the easiest real estate transaction I have ever had. Also, due to this being a new community we had lots of questions, and still do, as the community develops. The response is always fast and professional. Not sure I have ever waited more than 24 hours to get a response, and it's usually within a few hours. TRUST THEM! Real professionals.
