I traded cars at Johnson City Kia over 2 months ago. When trading cars the Gap insurance was cancelled on the traded car 2022 Kia Soul. I have been trying to get my Gap Insurance refund from the cancelled policy for more than 2 months. I have spoken with several people at the Kia dealership and each time I am given a run around about my refund. The Gap insurance refund should have already been refunded back to me since the policy has been cancelled 2 months ago. I cannot get JC Kia to give me a straight answer on how much $ my refund is exactly. They tell me its a problem with the dealership changing owners. Which this could'nt be any farther from the truth. I am reaching out to the BBB to try and get my refund that is owed to me. My next step will be an attorney.Initial Complaint

I purchased a 2015 Subaru WRX STI from them on XX-XX-XXXX upon purchase I was offered a warranty which I purchased covering the vehicle as it was when I purchased it including the aftermarket tune they placed on the vehicle. After leaving the dealership a mile down the road the car's check engine light came on. I contacted the dealership and brought the car back to be examined. After this was fixed the car has been back 8 times due to different codes the car was giving. They have told me the things they had fixed each time, but never provided receipts when asked. They told me that they went through the warranty company for each repair, but never contacted the warranty company. They have had my vehicle for 2 months, and the service department told me that the only thing that has been replaced on the car has been spark plugs on the first visit, although they told me via text that they were replacing other things during the next 7 visits. The car is in their possession right now, but they will not fix it nor have they been communicating with me at all the entire time. They have lied to me about what was going on with my car and now that the warranty is actually getting involved they cannot honor what they sold me due to the aftermarket things that they placed on the car. I have not had the car in my possession more then a month out of the 8 months of owning it. They have not offered me any reinvestment for the warranty knowing that they cannot honor it. I have been making payments on the vehicle as well as the warranty without having either. I would like to be reimbursed for the warranty, the cost that it will take to repair, and the cost of the payments that I have been paying while my car has sat on their lot without being touched.Initial Complaint

I own a 2017 Kia Sportage vehicle with 57,300 miles and the engine began using oil about six months ago. It now uses about a quart every 1200 miles. The last oil change at Grindstaff Kia I informed them about the problem and requested an oil usage test and after the test they acknowledged the problem, but said the 100,000 ten year power train warranty does not cover this. The power train warranty clearly states that all internal parts of the engine are covered. I have always had the scheduled oil changes recorded at dealerships so I have proper maintenance records, and they know it. The service manager said this issue would fall under the five year 60,000 mile bumper to bumper which ran out last summer. That's his excuse for not honoring the warranty.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/04/19) */ Mr. Pearson is the 3rd owner of this vehicle according to carfax. Per Kia Motor America warranty policies the original owner of the vehicle is given a 5 year 60,000 comprehensive warranty 5 year 60,000 road side assistance and a 10 year 100,000 mile power train warranty. Once the vehicle goes into a second owners possesion the factory warrant becomes 5 year 60,000 comprehensive and powertrain. The said vehicle was originally purchased in June of 2016 and expired on June 16th 2021 as per Kia Motor Americas guidelines. Our service department followed procedure and according to Kia America it showed warranties had expired as of said date. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/04/20) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) OK, I purchased this 2017 vehicle in 2017, from Johnson City Toyota, with 12,500 miles used. I gave $24,500.00 and it was a one-owner. I feel that Grindstaff Kia is using a deception technique when they say I'm the third owner. Never heard of a new auto warranty being void if it is sold before the warranty runs out, maybe it does with Kia. Not sure. However, I just discovered that ******* *** ****** had its own lifetime powertrain warranty with the used vehicles at the time I purchased it. I will see if they will honor the warranty.
