In the month August 2021, I reserved rental car service with ACE car rentals in Cancun, MX through the Orbitz website. While reserving the vehicle Orbitz offers vehicle collision coverage for $88.00 dollars. You have to pay the $88.00 when you make the reservation for the vehicle. Fast forward to September 3rd 2021. I arrive in Cancun, MX and visit the ACE vehicle rental location. They find my reservation and they want to charge an additional $180.00 for collision insurance on top of the $88.00 that Orbitz already charged me back in August. When I ask the ACE rental service agent he says they cannot validate the coverage purchased through Orbitz. Therefore, I showed him where I paid for the collision coverage ahead of time. The agent stated they were not able to honor the Orbitz collision coverage. I was able to chat with an Orbitz agent, because they do not have a direct line in order to speak to an agent. The agent attempted multiple time to contact ACE rental car services and was not able to get a hold of anyone to have them validate the collision coverage. Unfortunately, the agent did not have a solution for me that night. The agent infirmed me to enjoy my trip and when I got back to the U.S. to request a refund via email. I did it a few days later while on vacation, no big deal. I receive communication saying they declined my refund because they were not able to get a hold of ACE car rental services. Therefore, I reached out again. I chatted with another agent online through chat, requesting my $88.00 dollars back. He stated that someone was going to get back to me within 48 hrs. They did reach out to me via email, declining my refund because they were still unable to get a hold of ACE car rental service. Do not purchase collision coverage with them, rental car services do not honor the Orbitz coverage and still make you pay for additional coverage. At the end of the day, Orbitz took my money and did not refund me because they could not reach a vendor they do business with. No resolution was offered, other than we are sorry we took for money.
