We rented a home from this business on 1/5/22 for the week of 9/23/22-9/30/22 in South Carolina. The total deposit with taxes and insurance came to $6,350.56. We purchased travel insurance for this vacation. We found out that one of the travelers was at high risk pregnancy and her physician will not let her travel. On 4/4/22 we had to cancel our vacation. We received NO refund from Carroll Realty and was told to contact our insurance company. Insurance company denied our claim even though we have a legitimate physicians note. We live in Indiana and there was no way this traveler could travel to South Carolina at 39 weeks pregnant high risk. I see now that the house we originally rented has been re rented for several of the days that we were supposed to be there. Nothing from Carroll Realty regarding this after sending an email asking for a refund. They are getting double rent for this vacation home. It is rented for the same cost that we paid plus taxes. This is unlawful and seems like a scam to me!Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/08/09) */ Hi Ms. ******, Yes thank you for the update. I'm sorry about the travel insurance denial. We've rented 4 out of the 7 nights you originally had booked. At this time we've recouped $5800 out of the $9000 base weekly rate you had booked. We will continue to work to get those other nights rented, and in the meantime I will also reach out to the owner to discuss the situation in the case we weren't able to get those mid-week dates booked. If the dates do get booked, I will issue a refund immediately and contact you. So I might not have an answer on a refund until I seen first if we're able to book the remaining nights. Please let me know if you have any questions. ****** ******* Consumer Response /* (3000, 16, 2022/08/24) */ ***Document Attached*** I received a letter from Carroll Realty on July 31, 2023 stating that they cannot issue a refund because all of the dates that were reserved are not confirmed. They will speak with the homeowner and see if a refund will be given. I feel something can be done at this point. We have a physicians note with a medical reason why this trip had to be cancelled. We gave plenty of notice of cancellation. I have not heard from Carroll Realty since the submission of the BBB claim which was July 31, 2022. We received a full refund (minus the insurance) for the rental property. Our reason for cancellation was beyond our control and thankfully Carroll Realty understood our situation. Thank you again!
