    Billing Issues

I called the OB Hospitalist Group billing agent @ 1-888*********. I spoke with a woman who refused to take payment because the balance had been forwarded to collections in April. I explained that I was a single mother buried in bills wrapped up in a child support heart and finally had money to pay. She refused to let me discuss the issue with a manager and gave me the number of the collections agency. 1-866-********. Called collections recovery system and spoke with Joann who I made a payment in full of $312.50. I requested an email itemized receipt so I could submit to the father for reimbursement per our court order (or just a simple receipt of payment). She stated she could NOT provide that but would enter a request to have a receipt mailed. Yesterday I received an itemized receipt from the hospitalist group illustrating an insurance adjustment of $186.04. It showed $0 for patient payments and $0?! Confused I called the hospitalist group again to find out if I over paid and why the “bill” looks like I never paid or owed anything. He said because it was in collections since April and not their responsibility I must speak to collections. I said I just need proof I owed money and paid in full. He refused to provide me with that information, refused to transfer me to a manager or anyone that could help me further, refused to give me his name and then hung up the phone on me. I can not comprehend why they are making it impossible to now show and provide proof that I owed/paid them money. I understand that the payment took time to provide but that is not a reason to refuse to provide me Pertinent information nor do I understand why the information they sent implies I owe nothing, never owed anything and no payments were received. Or their refusal to remedy the situation or issue a refund if insurance did make adjustments and fully pay later.

The billing system is horrible. I received the initial statement on June and paid it through my issurance on June 7th. However the payment is rejected by OBHG after three months and I paid it again on Aug 5th. Then I received the "final request" again on Aug 21 saying that I still didn't pay it. When I checked it with my insurance company, they said they have mailed the check for more than two weeks and asked me to ask the billing staff in the OBHG to call them. Then I send the message in the online system "www.PeryourHealth.com" but five days passed, nobody replied to me. Then I called xxx-442-8454 on Sep. 9th at around 10:30 am CT and a woman named Rose answered the phone (not pretty sure whether it is her true name). And that's who really irritated me. First, she asked me for the account information, and I didn't get it very clear. And then she started to ridicule my accent. That has already made me not comfortable. Then I tried to explain what happened but she didn't let me finish and interrupt me several times by saying "we didn't receive your payment". Then I was pissed off and said "could you please let me finish my statement?" and she responded "well, if you can finish it by today". That is really insulting!!!! Then after I explained what happened and suggested to her, could you please check with my insurance company to see why you didn't receive the payment? She said no, she cannot do it. She just knew they didn't receive the payment and if there is something wrong, I should contact my insurance company. That's very not professional and respectful!!!! Fortunately, my main ob didn't use this system otherwise I will suggest she switch to another one. The reason why I received this bill is that the ob in the emergency room is using it. I posted this experience in the BBB to let other people be aware of this inconvenience!
