My family has brought ************, to n.k. animal hosp. for 40+ years, starting in the late 70's when we had our pony. I had brought 1 of our dogs there 10 years ago. No problems. I now have a smaller dog that needs puppy shots. I thought I'd go to our long term vet, even though it's been a while. My significant other is experiencing medical problems & has been in & out of the hosp. since late Dec. and will be coming home again, on hospice care. :-( I had an appointment for my small dog, on the day SO, went into the hosp. So missed the appnt.I had to call to reschedule & to my surprise, was informed I'd have to pay a missed appointment fee. O.k. "surprised", but no prob. I then asked a family member to take puppy to the next appnt. They also had their own medical issues & appnt the same day, but agreed. The family member said they were there, bit a bit late, as they're appnt was a little longer than expected. When they got to n.k. animal hosp. They refused to do the puppy ************* but took the ***** sample to test. Then asked for a 68$ appointment reservation fee (?) for the next appnt. That's not including the charges for the missed ******************* test. I and my family have never had these type of issues, with them before. You would think they would be more understanding of my situation, considering the fact, my SO is approaching the end of life. I'm starting to reconsider my decision, to use n.k. animal hosp as my vet, for my puppy. Don't get me wrong... They are an excellent veterinarian hosp. That's why I wanted to go back to them. But it just seems like they are starting to think of them selves, as a people doctor & adding fees, that you would find at a specialist doctor & not very understanding of your situation. I'll go a few more times & if I am still experiencing this added fee situation, then I'll have to rethink my decision of using them for my veterinary needs & update my review, as seems appropriate.

I would love to say that all of my experiences were great. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. Whenever were there (for the last ten years) we've requested Dr. ********* who wasn't there yesterday. There was a concern with my dog's ***, so the *** (***** *****) preached an x-ray for arthritis. I consented but later found out the x-ray only shows bones not ligaments. Useless. The next day she called and asked when we're going to book surgery. Ironically, ******** who went to see her yesterday was running, jumping and hopping around while she was on the phone trying to get us to book surgery. Hmmmm, was an x ray "up-sold"? Was my kindness/willing to do whatever's necessary for my pet taken advantage of? I won't answer that question directly, I'll simply state that Dr. Mandirini checked out one of our other pets with the same issue and said no x-ray was required, her *** appeared torn, and if she's not putting weight on in withing a few days lets do surgery. All in all he saved us $500 then and didn't try to sell us something we didn't need. I hope my story reaches those who'm it will made a positive difference because getting taken advantage of certainly doesn't feel good.

Hello, We are sorry to hear you felt that way, we always welcome a phone call to discuss and make sure all your questions are answered and that you understand what is going on with your pet. We included you in the decision making, our doctor offered x-rays and you approved them during your urgent care exam after reporting your pet had been lame for several days. X-rays are a standard of care, we accommodated your pet needed to rule out cancer, arthritis vs other. Your pet was sent home to be rested and on pain medication, we are happy to hear he is doing well now. You also asked to go to surgery asap once diagnosed, our doctor had offered you pain medication and to rest before going to surgery. We also accommodated you by getting you a date for surgery with our board certified surgeon at the soonest available date for both partial CCL rupture and tumor removal. We feel the stand of care was met and in your pets best interest.
