Billing Fraud-Summer Quarter, May 30, 2022, through August 12, 2022. YTI Career Institute, 1405 Williams Road, York PA 17402, ###-###-####. My daughter enrolled at YTI for the Spring quarter, March 21, 2022-May 27, 2022. She attended the orientation via ****. She did not attend any further **** classes nor complete any assignments. It is YTI's own policy to dismiss students from the roles for non-attendance or failing to maintain grades. YTI continued to bill her to include billing for the following summer quarter resulting in an amount due of about $4,500. On May 23, 2022, her instructor sent her an email (see attachment) stating that she would be dismissed from the program by 5 PM that evening for non-attendance. This email was sent a few days before the Spring, 1st quarter ended and the Summer, 2nd quarter began. YTI continued on billing for the Summer, 2nd quarter. I presented these facts to YTI and requested a bill adjustment. I was denied. I contacted the campus director and asked for a face-to-face meeting. My request, ignored. I was told by Darlene D******, campus director, that this is not her area of business, and she cannot help me. I contacted *****@porterchester (Keisha) via email and was told that the bill will not be adjusted. To resolve this issue, I want to see my daughters bill adjusted to reflect the fair amount owed. She should have been dropped with in the 1st 2 weeks of the 1st quarter for non-attendance/grades as she did not complete the course work or attend any classes. (I have tried calling on several occasions. No person answers the phones. Tele messages go unreturned. My daughter's emails to billing are being ignored. I did fill out a form that grants me permission to speak with the school regarding my daughter as she is 19 years old.) YTI has a rating of 3.3 stars based on poor customer service, billing practices, and poor quality of student education. Military veterans should use VA benefits elsewhere.Customer response

I started school here in January of 2020 and came to learn the instructor was completely incompetent after two months. I tried to stick it out hoping things would get better but he never gave the class direction or guidance and just sat there locked in on his computer screen. Well fast forward to last week and I have received a collections notice from them for 2800$. This is the first contact I have had with them since leaving. They are attempting to charge me double what all the equipment is worth that they provided and it's absolutely disgusting that a place that's supposed to help people can treat people this way. This is going to adversely affect my credit score that I have worked so hard on to repair and pay extreme prices for equipment that's not worth it at all. I don't know where to turn to and feel completely taken advantage of. I still have the equipment in prestine condition and am even willing to turn it all back in to wipe the majority of this debt they say I owe. Please helpBusiness response

Dear *** *******,
We were sorry to hear that this student was unhappy with his instructor's performance. There is no record that he ever expressed concerns to the program's supervisor or the Campus Director of Operations and Education. Unfortunately, all three of those individuals are no longer with the company, so we cannot hear their side of the story.
At YTI, our mission is to support students in achieving the professional and technical skills essential for their chosen career. To this end, students are provided with essential equipment such as laptops, books, and tools prior to beginning their studies. The charges for these materials are detailed in the student's enrollment agreement, which the student signs. If a student chooses to withdraw from YTI before completing their program, YTI works to ensure that the student receives an appropriate refund of tuition; however, students are still responsible for the cost of the equipment provided, as it is theirs to keep.
Contrary to the student's statement that he did not hear from YTI about his balance due until October 2021, records show that notices were sent to him in March 2020, July 2020, February 2021 and June 2021, as well as the October 2021 notice he references.
The student has already received a tuition credit for the portion of the term after he withdrew. As a courtesy, we will also credit the technology and lab fees, which he was unable to fully utilize, leaving just the charge for the books and equipment which he received for his program.
If there are any other questions, please feel free to reach out.
Sincerely,
Darlene D****** CDOEInitial Complaint

I started with yti career institute in August 2021 for the respiratory therapy program. The cost was 36000 which I was ok with but I became ill with covid **** the head of the respiratory therapy program told me I could LOA (restart) if I was falling behind due to the illness which I did honestly it hit me like a ton of bricks. The only reason I accepted the LOA though was due to the fact **** told me there was a October start, which is not a long wait. So October comes along and I check in with **** again the head of the respiratory therapy program he says I was all set for the October start, now today he emails me "I just got word the next start will be January 10th , 2022 We are not having a start in October . Your LOA will be extended through the next start in January . I hope this does not cause too much trouble."Very unprofessional I would have never done the LOA knowing I would have to restart in January from my initial August start.Business response

HelloOn 10 /13 ****** ****** was informed there would not be an October start and the next start would be in January. This was sent to all students beginning that term.
On October 14 it was determined she was on a Leave of absents (LOA) and not a new student and was informed she would be returning at her planned date of October 25.
This issue was resolved
Thank you
