We made contact with ******************************* when our air conditioner was leaking through the ceiling. This company bought Mellon Certified Restoration, who did the work on our home after our house fire in March of 2019. We did have an issue and reported it to Mellon in June of 2020. They did nothing but we never had any more problems with the air conditioner. In June of 2022 the air conditioner starting leaking and overflowing into our bedroom and hallway leaving all the paint stained and peeling. We talked with ***** when he came out and he said that we would have to file a new claim with our homeowners because its a new problem but he would send someone out first to make sure. He didn't think the original installer would come out to look at it because they owed them somewhere around $15,000.00. He sent out ****************** who was here on 6/16/2022 they checked it and found no blockage in the drain after blowing CO2 through the lines. Within 24 hours it started leaking again. Again we called ***** and he sent out Centrum again. This time they removed at least 5 gallons of water from drain pain and opened the unit up and added a piece of 3/4" PVC pipe. ***** called a few days later and stated that he had to check with ******* because he had 2 different invoices. He never got back to us, so we contacted him. He did call us back but we were not available so we returned his call and he has not called back. We do not believe this is a new issue. We had our air conditioner in our attic for 18 plus years and never had an issue. When they did the work and installed the new unit they moved it and we are left with a stained and peeling ceiling that we do not feel we should have to file a claim or pay to get fixed.

Water damage to inside of house from pipe leak. Told to use this company by ****. Initial estimate for work from Mellon was $31456.78. Many items on initial estimate were not done. Revised estimate was provided from Mellon for $27,995.15. **** paid Mellon in full for $27,995.15 but Mellon keeps sending us bills saying we have to pay $3,461.63 for work that was not done. In addition, I have gone through their second estimate and it appears they are charging twice for the movers, and also are charging for a lot of packing boxes we never used. They are also charging for a dump truck and they never had a dump truck at our house. All the old flooring and trash was put into the work van of the floor installers - no dump truck or dumpster was ever at our house. They also charged for 2 days for the pack out of our house, but the movers were only there one day. As per their revised estimate - they were paid in full and we do not owe the $3,461.63 they are trying to get and it also appears they are still charging for services/boxes that were not provided in the amount of $2006.97. And they should have to return that money to the insurance company and be investigated for insurance fraud.

      Business response

      01/12/2022

BMS CAT/ Mellon Certified Restoration responded to a loss to help the **** Insurance member with content (furniture) recovery. An estimate was written as per the ****
Insurance program guidelines. We use approved program guidelines to estimate initially how many boxes we expect to use, how long we may expect to store the contents, and how much trash was removed from the location, etc. If we do not use as many boxes as anticipated, or the job is completed faster that was expected and we do not store the contents for an initially anticipated three months, we adjust the original estimate to refund any charges that were over the original estimate.
We did adjust the estimate to reflect what was completed, an adjustment of $3,461.63 was made to our original estimate. While we were preforming this project we were also transitioning from Mellon Certified Restoration's computer software into the BMS Corporate software which did not allow us to adjust the contract and invoice timely but have since been corrected. The customer does not owe any funds and there will be no refund as the contract was adjusted accordingly.
Should you have additional questions or require more information please contact me at *** ******** or ********@melloncr.net.
      Thank you,

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

       Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:
As stated previously, BMS Mellon made no adjustment to our estimate until I informed **** of the discrepancies.  Once **** informed BMS Mellon they needed to adjust the estimate, that is when a second estimate was made, still with fraudulent charges and then BMS Mellon not only sent us a bill for the difference in the estimates, but also followed up with a phone call saying we better send them a check.  If there were a problem with their computer system, why were they able to enter the second check from **** that was sent AFTER the second estimate was done.  If they could enter the check from ****, why didn't they make the adjustment at the same time?

      Lies, deception and fraud.

      Regards,

      ******* *******

In the fall of 2019 Mellon restoration put a deck on the back of my townhome. The deck was left I stained over the winter. I tried contacting them for months starting in the spring to have the deck stained. The deck was warped and had exposed nails. When they finally stained the deck they used one thin coat and did extend the stain to the end of the deck . Again I have been trying to contact the company with no success. They do not return calls but continue to send bills and now threaten collections. I have paid all but $459.98 of my $4959.98 invoice for account #*****. I have been holding the balance until all work is completed.
