      On 08/16/2021 we purchased a vehicle, a 2005 **** ********* LE from Mayo Auto, Inc for my 19 yo daughter. The car was listed in good condition with current inspection stickers and was financed through the dealer (at over 100% of cost, unbeknownst to us). During a routine oil change back on 04/25/22 the mechanic said the entire frame of the car had significant rusting and cracks/holes in the frame that he said was concerning. At this point we had the car 8 months and when my daughter recently got a flat tire, the mechanic brought us back with the car up on the lift to show us the whole center of the frame had a giant hole with only 1 rusted bolt holding the steering in place and if that had fallen off we would have lost steering and all control of the vehicle, which could have caused significant injury or loss of life to my daughter and our children in the car. The car was rendered undrivable and we are now stuck with a car that is essentially junkyard material and a $4000. auto loan to pay on. The owner, Tony M***, who sold us the vehicle wanted nothing to do with us and would only say he could not guarantee how long a car would last. He sold this vehicle under the guise that it was safe and put our lives at risk as there was no way this vehicle was in good condition at the time of sale. Per the mechanics the car should have never been sold and had significant structural damage that was present and the amount of rusting and damage to the frame could not have happened in the months that we owned the car. I reported this to the PA State Police and also filed a complaint with the Attorney General’s office and am awaiting a reply.

      In regards to the complaint regarding the **** . This vehicle was over 15 years old when it was sold for $4800 to the customer. The vehicle was sold with a 3 month 3000 mile powertrain warranty. Unfortunately over time (11 months since the customer purchased the vehicle)  an older vehicle can and will rust. Rust and corrosion were not part of the 3 month warranty that came with the vehicle  , it is not something that would be covered almost 1 year after the fact. There was  nothing hidden on the vehicle at time of sale. Unfortunately over time things do rust. The part that the customer noted for the rust is a bolt on part (crossmember). It can be removed and replaced, at almost 1 year after the sale this is not a covered warranty component as the warranty expired 8 months ago and the warranty was on the powertrain not rust/cosmetics. We are sorry to hear of the problem. The customer dropped the vehicle off at our dealership for us to look at , but before we could look at it she came back and took it away.
