I went on a payment plan for what I owe in back taxes. I paid the payment for March late, however, was in contact with the company and was told it was okay. They then turn around and send a wage garnishment to my employer before I'm even due for April's payment. this isn't fair to people who try and make right of their debt. A wage garnishment will cause financial hardship. I'd like the wage garnishment removed and put back on the payment planInitial Complaint

Statewide Tax Recovery has garnished my wages illegally. I received a tax bill from ************************************************** ************, **. I moved from there in March 2016. I sent them a copy of my rental agreement at my new address in ********, ** and a copy of my tax returns since 2016 with the Hazleton address. I called again to confirm this because they sent another letter stating my wages would be garnished in the amount of ******. I was assured it was an error on their part, and they would contact my HR **** and no monies would be taken from my paycheck. They lied. They in fact garnished my wages on January 31 in the amount of $212.41 and again on February 14, 2025, in the amount of $211.06. I want MY money back and do not want to deal with their run around. They took my money illegally and have no grounds to stand on. I sent them the documents they requested, and they proceeded to steal my money. I will also file a complaint with the *************************. They claim to record their phone calls, tell them to pull the most recent calls I made to them. I spoke with **** on January 30 who was the agent that requested my tax returns, and I emailed them that day. Then again on February 3, I spoke with **** who assured me the situation was handled. He said the balance was not owed and he said he would contact my HR **** and he did not. It was not, they are incompetent and thieves. I want my hard-earned money refunded ASAP!Business Response

I have been receiving notices from a debt collector named Statewide Tax Recovery from *************, **. I have never lived, gone to school in **, nor done any business in that state. When I asked to send me proof of debt they would not agree. I was told I could dispute but need to fill out a form where I would be asked to put my personal information. This is a complete scam and they need to be looked into because they do have last four of my social security on file, my current address, but are using my maiden name (which changed in 2009).Initial Complaint

I have received a tax bill that is overdue, and they have threatened a wage attachment on December 7th. they told me to call back before this date to set up a payment arrangement. I can't get ahold of these people. How can these people call themselves a business when you can't get through to them? I'd appreciate if someone would get back to me!!!Business Response

to consumer
Since receiving certified mail on 11/8/2024, I have tried repeatedly to contact your agency regarding this issue via phone and can never get through.
I received an invoice for $46.75 for 2016 schuylkill county per capita tax of $5.50.
My problem with this is two fold.
1. I have never received any type of notice in the last 8 years regarding this 2016 delinquency..
2. That is not my s.s. number listed on the invoice.
So in an effort to settle this matter, I ask that you provide the following:
1. Documentation from the taxing authority that I do in fact owe this 2016 tax.
2. Previous documentation that I was notified of this delinquency.
3. Explanation why someone other than myself s.s. number is listed on the invoice.
I expect answers that are justifiable and accountable to all 3 questions prior to submitting any payment whatsoever and failure to adequately address my 3 questions will result in myself filing an official complaint with the BBB.

Statewide recovery is claiming I owe taxes for somewhere I didnt live. I called them and they were very rude. They refuse to send me an itemized statement because they sent a certified letter. I have never gotten anything from them. They have my correct address but claim I owe taxes somewhere else? There are so many scams and I wanna make sure this is legit. Theyre address is ********* but theyre phone number is sunbury. Also the taxes theyre claiming I owe were paid to **********.Business Response
Date: 11/04/2024
Statewide Tax Recovery used to have an office in the ******* area, which is where the Sunbury phone number comes from. The company then moved to an office in ********* to be more centrally located, but the original phone number was kept for taxpayer familiarity. If you have a dispute for non-residency, you can contact our office via phone at **************, and one of our team members will assist you in processing your exoneration request. You can also email *********************************** with any documented proof that you did not reside in the tax authority that you are claiming to not owe. They will process the documents and close the account if the proof is accepted. Additionally, you mentioned paying **********. ********** is typically the appointed tax collector for most places, so standard taxes can be paid to them, so that is where some confusion might come from. Our agents can help answer those questions as well.Initial Complaint

I did not live in the county at the time they are attempting to garnish my wages for. I have contacted them multiple times and left messages trying to explain this. They have not given me any means to provide them with the proof, they just ignore you and continue to harrass you.Business Response

I received a certified letter from statewide tax recovery on 9/21/24 stating that I owe $137.34 for past taxes from 2017 (Sunbury city occupational assessment and ******* per capita tax). The letter states that this is my final warning before my wages will be garnished. However, I had previously spoken to statewide tax recovery via the phone and informed them that I moved out Sunbury in 2016 and did not reside in ******* at any point in 2017. On June 20, ********************************************************** a copy of my lease that started September 2016 showing that I lived in *********** as well as a copy of my drivers license, which has been renewed in late 2016, which showed my address as Selinsgrove. Nevertheless, they have continued to call and harass me and have now sent this letter saying my wages are about to be garnished. If you look at the reviews, they have a long and extensive history of doing exactly this too many people. They demand money for past taxes and even when people such as myself provide them with evidence that they did not reside in the area in the year in question they continue to send threatening calls and letters Seeing as they are now threatening to garnish my wages Im a filing reportBusiness Response

Statewide wrongfully garnished my wages over $400 for taxes in cities Ive never lived. I provide my income tax states for the years in which I am disputing. Statewide accepted my proof of addressed 90 days after I submitted it in October of 2023. I have email chains with all communication. Despite numerous calls and emails for months on end, they still have not returned the money they wrongfully garnished from my wages. Its been almost a year since they garnished my wages and still will not return my money or provide feedback/resolution.Business Response

I received a bill from Statewide Tax Recovery. There was no information on what it was for so I called and was informed it was 2019 per capita school tax. After reviewing my records it appears I paid them once in 2019 and twice in 2020! 2020 was way above the around $90 I should pay for the year for county, borough, and school. So I asked them for an itemized statement of what needs paid and the payments I have already paid. I have never received that! Instead *** been told my manager is going to email you that, can you pay half now? then yesterday I got a call from some jag who told me you never made a payment to us you need to send us what you have.. I find it very strange they cant provide me an itemized list of what I paid already.. Seems weird Ive already made 3 different payments to them but either the person I talk to says their manager is sending me the list that I never get or Im accused of lying because their system says I never made a payment and I need to provide them documents. I have no problem paying it but my records show they were already paid.. My records by the way are transaction receipts from this company..
