When we first signed up with Carriage House, we didn’t know that we would have to fight tooth and nail to find a way to be relieved of our ownership. While we have used this contract in the past, we have become extremely dissatisfied with our timeshare. We’re no longer in a position physically, financially, or emotionally to maintain this contract. We’re both handicapped, have problems walking, and find that the accommodations available to us do not fit our needs, making it impossible to use. The rooms we have been given recently do not allow for us to plug in our phones and sleep machines. The cookware is not suitable for our needs and the kitchen shelves are unreachable for us. We have requested certain accommodations over the years and those accommodations are rarely met. We have also been burdened with the astronomical maintenance fees. We never thought that they would have increased as much as they have. Our fixed incomes do not allow us to maintain this increase in fees every year. We’ve reached out to Carriage House ourselves, but they refused to provide us with any assistance. One time when we reached out they told us to pay almost $10,000 and they would take our timeshare back. Why would we have to pay them for a property we’ve fully paid for and they can sell again. Their only other suggestion has been to sell it ourselves. We have tried this, and spent $5994 in doing so. This was through **** ** ********* ***. We received no interest. This timeshare is unsellable. We need help getting this resolved ASAP.Initial Complaint

We went to the presentation thinking we would be getting a great deal, but we were dealing with a nightmare. We were not told of the year-up care cost, the need to join another group to trade, the cost to join the other group or the cost to trade. The salesman had told us we called the resort, and the secretary at the resort would handle all reservations and trades. We were told that traveling with pets is not a problem. We could go on vacation anywhere where there was a timeshare resort. To sit in a presentation for three hours and get lied to was not what we expected. We don't believe we would utilize a timeshare trade again. Reserving a hotel room is much easier and cheaper in the long run. Unfortunately, when you book into a timeshare that is dirty or fails to meet your expectations, you can't pick up and go elsewhere without losing what you have invested. With a hotel, you go somewhere else and maybe lose one day's cost. This timeshare is a financial drag to us, and I certainly don't want to burden our children with our mistakes. We are extremely upset and want this canceled, and our money returned immediately.
