This gym has put my account into collection when I was under the impression my account was frozen indefinitely. Because of the pandemic the gym was closed indefinitely/limited access for the entire period it is trying to collect membership fees. If any physical notice was sent to me it was not received or sent to an address that I no longer lived at, also due to the pandemic. This feels like a company that was struggling during the pandemic trying anything it could do to retain revenue during the pandemic at the cost of members. I never missed a payment at the gym in months of intended membership, and it is clear that any attempt at collections from an account at A GYM IN A MAJOR CITY DURING JUNE OF 2020 have been made in error. This practice could have netted this company a small boost while they were struggling but is no doubt impacting the credit of many former members at it's multiple locations through out the city. I have months of spam emails to sign up with gym as further proof.Business response

This member submitted a request on 7/24/2020 to freeze the membership dues for 12 bi-weekly payments beginning 8/7/2020. The member was notified via email on record that his request was processed and that regular membership billing would resume on 1/22/2021. The member was also informed that his regularly scheduled annual fee would occur on 9/1 as usual each year, as written in the signed membership agreement. City Fitness reopened in July 2020 and therefore was open during the time that the missed payments were billed.
