STAY AWAY! Getting involved with this group was one of the worst financial mistakes I have ever made. Don't make the same mistake. This company is all about what's best for them, NOT what's best for you. They size you up and figure out how they can fit you into their profit-making algorithm. They use tools like affinity bias to gain your trust, they are oh "so nice" and you will want to like them, but it's phony. It's really about putting you in products that make them money. Don't have load of money? "No problem we help everyone..." NO, what they do, is sell you an Annuity so that they guarantee themselves a huge commission up front. They claim to be a fiduciary, but this is complete crap. Maybe a tiny percentage of the time? They sell high commissioned products and you will never know what is in YOUR best interest or theirs. And if is in their best interest, they will simply claim it was "suitable" for you. Here are some red flags you should watch for: 1. Send us sensitive documents over email (our secure portal is not for your kind) 2. Reviews on websites like Google, Glassdoor, Indeed, etc have multiple bad reviews, followed by obviously fake positive reviews from the owner's family members. 3. The owners and multiple staff members have multiple disciplinary actions and disclosures on file with FINRA and the SEC. 4. When you ask why we are in a very highly concentrated, or expensive mutual fund, or a handful of specific individual stocks, instead of broadly diversified and low cost portfolio the answer is "this is what our people say to buy". 5. YOU have to be the one to point out details, like you made too much money to contribute to an IRA, oh and the same thing happened last year. (but who cares right? It's all about how much we have as assets under management, even if you have to pay penalties or take it out later.) These people are a complete disgrace to every true fiduciary financial professional, and a nightmare for the rest of us

I received a flyer in the mail from an organization called SOFA - The Society for Financial Awareness, inviting people to join them for a "FREE educational workshop". The flyer says SOFA is "An IRS Recognized 501 (c) (3) Non-Profit Organization." The Topic was "Minimizing Taxes in Retirement" and was offered at the Haverford Community Recreation and Environmental Center. I registered and attended the session on Thursday, June 2. At the session, SOFA was at no time mentioned or contained in any materials they presented or handed out. Instead, an organization called Thrive Financial Services was the subject of the entire session. They gave out a card that said "We are excited to have you! This Retirement MasterClass is hosted by Thrive Financial Services. Please scan the QR code to learn more about Thrive and download our helpful resources." SOFA and Thrive have the same associated mailing address. The subject of their presentation was a sales pitch for Thrive's financial services. The CRS Form on their website says "Thrive Capital Management, LLC (“TCM”) is registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) as an Investment Adviser" and later on in the form in a section on Fees says "You will pay fees and costs whether you make or lose money on your investments." I interpret these things to mean Thrive is not a non-profit organization. I experienced this event presented by Thrive as a "bait and switch" operation, with the advertising for it in the flyer misleading and deceptive. I do not want to do business with a company that engages in such practices.
