On August 9, 2022, at 8:10pm, McAdoo's received a phone call from the Pennsylvania State Police for a tractor and trailer in a ditch at the intersection of ***** ****** **** *** ****** **** ** *********** *** Once arriving on scene, it was found that the truck had been traveling up Jolly School Road and had attempted to to make a hard left, 90 degree turn up a hill onto Mounts Road, both of which are weight restricted roads. When the driver spun out while attempting to back out of the turn, the rear of the trailer got stuck in a ditch on Jolly School Road and the right steer tire got stuck in a ditch on Mounts Road. The dolly legs of the trailer became buried into the blacktop, which in turn took weight off the drive tires. A 50 Ton rotator was utilized to rig to the rear of the trailer and to pick up and swing the loaded trailer out of the ditch. Because of the narrow roadway, we needed to rig down all equipment from the back of the trailer and drive approximately ten (10) miles to have access to the other side of the trailer. After re rigging all of the equipment, the front of the trailer was picked up to take the weight off the dolly legs, a drag line was then ran to the tractor to pull it backwards out of that ditch. The truck and trailer was then brought back to McAdoo's Yard because of an impound placed on it from the Pennsylvania State Police because the ****** *** ******** *** * ***.
Once arriving back to McAdoo's Yard it was realized that the reefer was not running and the temperature was rising, which would have ruined the entire load of frozen cargo if not corrected for the customer. Our mechanic was called in and it was discovered that the tank was empty. We put 30 gallons of diesel fuel in, and had to bleed and prime the motor to get it to start which took a couple of hours, but we were able to get it running and to get the temperature back to where it was needed. The following morning an additional 70 gallons of diesel fuel was added to keep the reefer running continuously to keep the load from melting until the hold was released from the Pennsylvania State Police and arrangements made for the customer to come and pick up his truck and trailer.

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
As much as I appreciate the depiction of the work, and attempt to protect the product being hauled, it does not break out any details that could justify a bill of $5100. How many miles were traveled? How many man hours were utilized? What is the hourly rate for labor? How many miles and/or hours of the equipment was utilized? What is the rate per mile/hour for the equipment? These are things that were requested and never received. Only the indication that "storage charges" would continue if equipment was not picked up.
