On 6/22/22, two repairmen (**** and ****) from Home of the Future Appliance ************** came to my home to repair my refrigerator. The service call was arranged through ********** under my warranty on the refrigerator, which they repaired. Before they left, I asked if they also repaired ovens. They did and we discussed future repair work (not related to the ********** matter). **** said he would order the oven parts and call me when he could come back. He required that I pay for the future "Service Call" before he left and I paid him $100 for the future Service Call. Time went by, **** never contacted me about the return Service Call to fix my oven. I attempted to contact him using the contact info on the business card (text messages, phone messages, I went by his "office"). On 10/11/22 a woman who answered the office phone (*******) told me that they were still waiting on parts and would call me to set up the Service Call when they received the parts. Finally, on 1/19/23, **** called me back. He had no recollection of my pending Service Call. I refreshed his memory and he told me that he was sorry that he had not followed through on the oven repair. I gave him the needed information and reminded him of the oven repair needed. He said he would look up the parts and let me know. He also said he would not charge me a "Service Call" for the oven repair because of the extreme delay. I reminded him that I had already paid him for the oven Service Call. He called me back about 5 minutes later and told me that the oven parts were either not available or were out of stock and that he could not repair my oven. I accepted this and said that I assumed he would just return the $100 I gave him for the future oven Service Call. He said no, that it was not refundable, despite the fact that no service call would be made. He said he keeps the $100 for looking up the parts (5 min). This is dishonest as it was designated as payment for the future "Service Call."
