I had an ac issue with my car. I took it in to Jacksons to have it checked and possibly fixed. When I returned the employee at the front counter said my compressor went out. Then showed me a part covered in metal shavings telling me that this is what my car looks like. I asked him is that part from my car? He said no (red flag). He then informed me that I needed to replace the whole system and that it would cost me $3,000. I told him I couldnt schedule and took my car to another trusted mechanic for a second opinion. The mechanic said everything looks find no leaks. He just needed to order a actuator solenoid. He ordered the part and replaced it fixed the problem for 500 dollars. I feel like ******* tried to take advantage of me during the hot season. When I called Jacksons back to explain to them that I found the problem and had it fixed. *** the salesperson explained that fixing that part was not in the best interest of the shop or the customer. I explained to him that $2,500 is a big difference for someone on a budget. He declined to give me my money back for a wrong diagnostics. I have a feeling they do this all the time. If there is anyway I could get my $70.24 back it would be great.Business response

****************** brought his vehicle in and asked for a diagnosis. We inspected his A.C. system and determined that his AC compressor was beginning to fail. We prepared an estimate for doing a professional repair on his air conditioning system. ****************** opted not to go with our recommendation and took his vehicle to another shop to have a lesser repair done. ****************** has the right to choose who he pays to work on his vehicle and we have the right to choose what level of professional repair we want to offer. The part that was replaced is an integral component of the compressor. Although it is replaceable, at 10 years old and ****** miles it is our expert opinion that the compressor has experienced significant wear and tear and any single part replacement would be a temporary repair at best. We offer a 2 year, ****** mile warranty on all of our repairs and as such we generally do not do less than complete repairs. The diagnosis was performed. Regardless if ****************** or anybody else agrees with the recommended repair, the diagnosis was correct. At this point I do not feel we owe ****************** a refund.
