      My name is *****************************, Oct. 7 2023, I have rented from The Storage Depot at ******************* NE ****** Oregon ***** for over 2 years. I have been only renting 1 room A25 for over a year by itself. The rent for the A25 was $130 a month. Then $149. Dec. 2022. I have never been late, never caused any problems. On September 26, 2023 I paid rent $149. for A25 for Oct. 1, 2023 to October 31, 2023. At that time the nice lady at the counter told me they were raising the rent again to $179 in Nov and then ***. I thanked her kindly knowing there was no way that I could afford to have the rent that high. If I didnt do something right now I would not be able to pay the new fee. So I struggled to find new storage and get everything moved in a fast timely matter, so I could get my money back. I found a new storage and did my best being disabled. On October 5, 2023 in the morning before noon, I had unit A25 all empty and swept and clean. I left my lock on so nobody could vandalize or anything. I went to the office to get my refund. At this time I have already paid $149 for the month of October 1 through the 31. At my surprise the nice lady said you need to give 10 notice, but she would talk to the corporate seeing I was ready to leave the morning of the 5th of Oct. At this time she said go ahead and take your lock off, she had already called to get my refund and had to leave a message, that she would get back to me soon as she heard back from the corporate. The next morning Oct. 6 2023 she called and left a message 9:52am saying they wont give me the 10 days back and anything on the 15th or more is considered a month and I get no refund at all ? First off how can anyone call 15 days a month? And, ok maybe they didnt bring it to my attention and it was in the fine print that there was a 10 day notice to opt out but, from the morning of the 5th to the 14th is 10 days..that leaves the day of the 15th of October to the 31st of Oct which is 17 days refund.

      This letter is in response to complaint #********, from ***************************** to the BBB. 

      ************************ complaint is an issue with company policy and procedure. 

      He signed a lease on September 21, 2021 (please see attached document).

      In the lease in clearly states in Section, 1 Month-to-month renewal, Paid Rent is non-refundable and section 4 sub category Termination, Occupant may terminate this Rental Agreement at any time if all Rent and charges are paid in full (through the end of the month) and Occupant notifies Owner of Occupant's intent to vacate at least Ten (10) days before the end of the Term.

      ********************** came into the office on September 26, 2023 paid his monthly rent for October, he never informed us of his intent to vacate.  He came back into the office on October 5, 2023 stating he had removed all his items from the unit and moved-out.

      When I explained the policy to him and the contract that he signed. ********************** became extremely agitated in my office, when I offered to give him a contact at the company office, he continued to yell and then apologize for his out bursts. Numerous times he referred to me as the nice lady. I did my best to try to reference the lease he signed. But he would not be consoled and would not allow me to explain that when he moved in, he signed the lease and received a copy. I offered to contact our main office. He calmed down and left the office. He called me a couple hours later. He was again agitated and raised his voice. I told him I spoke with my manager and explained that it is policy and he signed the contract. His complaint is not a reflection of services rendered or issues with Storage Depot and or its mangers but the polices that are clearly stated in the lease he signed.

      I am rejecting this response because: ********* nice lady, ever since she has worked there, she has been super nice every month I come in to pay my bill. We have had a lot of little chats about life and even shared my close call with death and treatments. More then just hi. Every once in a while her husband would be there, couple times just him. When they raised the rent for my storage at the beginning of 2023, I expressed to her that it was to much for me, just couldnt do anything about it right then. I am disabled and on fixed income. 
        On September 26, 2023, when I came in to pay my bill for the coming Oct 2023, she gave me a heads up like we were friends ( no paper work or notice) just a heads up, that rent was going up $30 in November 2023. She knew from our chats, that I couldnt pay that much,  I said thank you very much, there is NO way I could afford to do that. 
        ********** last response to BBB was surprising to me, with what she said and what she didnt say. ********* you are not being honest. On the morning of Oct 5th 2023, you said a lot more then what you are saying. Also the defamation or bashing my name, like yelling, angry, out bursts, extremely agitated is wrong. Yes, I was upset and crying, I took important bill money to get another storage so I would not lose all my belongings.  I tried my hardest to accommodate and make everyone happy. Then on that same morning of the Oct 5th you then said I need ************************************************************************** the heads up. You said you would call and tell them that I did give notice. That you would try and get things fixed so I could be refunded. You also told me, if you could you would pay me out of your own pocket but you couldnt afford it. You said you would call me the next day. And you did call me back the next morning, you acted like you never said anything, and denied any of my money. I said then I want to keep my storage till the end of the month. You said No! You said 10 day notice and after the 15th they count it as a month. So why are you not saying any of this now? So really, I did give notice on the 26, but you wont honor that. So you know I gave notice on the 5th .5th to the 14th is 10 days. So from the 15 to the 31st .that would be the least I am owed. 
      So ********* nice lady, before you say anything else, please let me give you a heads up. When I pay bills and anything in person like thatI always have a GoPro camera going and on for incidents like this. For years now. I dont leave home without it. Even on Sept. 26 2023 and Oct.5th 2023.

      I am rejecting this response because: I am sure they get this regularly, because you are asking for $149.00 for 4 days. They rip you off on your way out. And I think this should go higher up then this ********* lady ******** She has not been there for years. I have rented longer then she and her husband have  been there. This lady does not know how to count. They owe me for 27 days or take ******************************** for ***************************************** my refund. Please go to someone else besides this manager lady.
