Our new roof from Epic continues to leak. Is that supposed to happen? I don't think so but you be the judge if that's what you want from a new roof.

The leaks in the house were due to improper installation of the gutters/fascia, causing the gap and leaks. ************** requested we not come out to help, when we reached out to him via text July 20th 2020 to help with a custom piece of drip edge to remedy the gap issue caused by the gutters being hung to low and thus created a gap due to improper installation. Epic Roofing and Construction was not contracted to install guttering, fascia, nor custom drip edge on this property. We were trying to go above and beyond for this customer, beyond the scope of work.

Epic Roofing and Construction did all the work on the insurance scope, per our contact agreement. USAA did a final inspection, in person before releasing final payment on their property, deeming the work by Epic complete. We have all the supporting photo and reference materials to prove this.

It should be noted that certain of the continuing leaks are on the second floor and are unrelated to gutters/fascia.
************** completed a subsequent inspection of the roof and identified multiple defects with the roof replacement. The report provided by **** included the following:

The deficiencies I found are photo documented and attached.
My findings are as follows:
• 1 ½" x 1 ½" edge metal was used instead of 2" x 2", leaving gaps over the gutters. In order to remedy
this, 2" x 2" should be used
• Counter flashings are too tight and not secured. Copper should be trimmed and secured ¾" off shingle
• Exposed unsealed nails are backing out, allowing flashing to lift
• Unsecured roof to wall flashings over most of the roof
• Loose nails working back up through shingles leaving holes for water intrusion
• Trim and siding are run down tight against shingles. They should be ¾" off shingles for proper run off or
shingles cut back and sealed for water trough which is not ideal
• Skylights improperly flashed. Flashings reused instead of new. They are stretched and not fitting
properly
• 3-way open valley on low pitch is improper
• Shingle installation over window pan areas have no overhang allowing water to pour over the face of
windows damaging window and trim. Custom 5 ½" D-edge metal will direct water past window and trim
in these areas.
• Some window pans were cut off at or below the bottom trim, leaving them vulnerable to splash back
leaks due to light or missing sealant. Bottom trim should have been removed and pan run behind,
sealed then trim installed over.

If this is true why would the customer not contact us to come help with any alleged issue? On July 20th 2020 we were sent a message that states " We have additional issues/concerns identified. Please hold off institution until comprehensive review/plan is completed". We are have been on standby to help however this review is the first communication we have had on this matter. Seems strange that is taken a year to now come up with a "comprehensive review".

The independent report on Epic's work provided by insurance provider **** speaks for itself. We could not reasonably expect Epic to address the upstairs and downstairs leaks after previous failed attempts to correct the problems. We are simply sharing our experience and the findings included in the independent inspection report for consumers to consider.
