I first took a 2012 *** to have the engine rebuilt in March of 2020. It has been more than 3 years and the car is not fixed. The two times that I picked up the car, I didnt get far before it started backfiring. The last time that I pick it up in January of 2022, Ghassan loaded the car on my trailer. When we went to unload it, the car was in limp mode. This is after I had paid for 3 repairs. The local shop had to replace an injector, plugs, coils and changed oil and filter. After that, we just changed the oil once before the engine that he built blew up. I paid him 3 times, I paid the local shop and I havent had the car for more than 3 years. Every time that the car was returned, they kept it for more than six months and failed to repair it. This last time, the car has been there for 10 months. In April, I was told that they were taking the engine apart and I would receive a call in a few days. When I picked up the car in January 2022, I was told that I had two years guarantee and 20k miles. A few months later and just about 4K miles, the engine blew up. I have paid this business over 10k. To just get it running, I had to pay about 2k to another shop. More than 3 years have transpired and the car is still broken down.Business response

This is the second engine provided by Ghassan. The first engines be blew upon 3 hours. Before installing the second engine I had **************** inspection done. It was the same engine. The first engine blew and exposed me to toxic vapor. I stopped the car and it was full of coolant vapor. White toxic smoke. Ghassan personally harassed me Made threats across state line a felony in ********. That is a separate issu I am handling. Be aware this shop is a scam. They do not remanufacture anything. They assemble junk yard parts to complete their orders. I of course dont bring this lightly. My life was at risk because of their fraudulent manufacturing. Ghassan went so far as to threaten me! I have two children and dont expect a retail Operation to threaten me!! DVOBusiness response

In regards to this situation, we have attempted to do everything possible in good faith to assist even though you went outside of our warranty to disassemble the engine we provided to you. You agreed that this was an impulse decision and we still allowed the engine to come to our facility for warranty inspection disassembled. We then remanufactured a new engine that you can see has a different serial number and sent it to your shop. Since we do run all of our engines on an engine test stand for an hour minimum, in your case on the second engine even longer, we ensured that the product you received was a fully functioning engine. Your second engine was sent to you with the result of your shop again going through the process of disassembly to the engine we provided. We explained to you that this again is a void to your warranty and addressed all concerns you had. Regardless of this, we provided you with the option to send the engine back to get a full refund, in which case you said you are keeping the engine to put all upgraded internals. No threats have been made from Ghassan Automotive, we have only received harassment and consistent threats from your side. It was at that point the company as a whole decided we could not work with you further. The company attempted to handle this with you with civility, however it was met with only poor manners and unprofessionalism.Customer response

Late 2021 I bought a rebuilt N55 engine. I had it installed just after the holidays in early 2022. The engine I received and installed was defective. Have video and documentation from *** dealership. Ghassan auto emails me and says they received my core and will send half of the charge for the old engine. I send wire instructions and it's 7 months later and I have yet to see my core refund. I then find out the engine I received was faulty. I send the video and documentation from the dealership and Ghassan Automotive tells me they have to see all warranty work in their shop so I can send back the uninstalled engine or my entire vehicle at my cost. I do not agree to this and seek legal options. No attorney in ***************** is willing to take the case based on current and prior litigation and criminal charges against the owner. I now have a worthless engine, no returned core charge, and no potential feasible way to recover damages.Business response

On 9-19-19 I purchased a rebuilt engine from Ghassan for my 2013 X5M. Payment of $12,195.00 was sent and included $8,495 for rebuilt engine + $3000 core charge (refundable upon return) + $700 freight back and forth to NJ. Took 3 months for engine to arrive on 12-4-19, after many calls and messages for updates. Paid my shop $3412 to install on 2-1-20 and upon startup engine was knocking and running rough. Upon inspection by the certified mechanic, they discovered the oil pan was missing the internal hoses inside the oil pump that supply oil to the and connect to the block, and therefore engine was starved of oil and now ruined. Reached out to Ghassan to advise him of the missing tubes and he advised mechanic to swap the oil pump with the one from my core and that should solve the problem, however it didn't & engine still knocking, throwing timing codes and misfiring. Ghassan requested engine be removed so pickup could be arranged. Both ************* sent back 2-25-20. After 5 more months of calls & messages, Ghassan advised on ****- that the warranty was voided because mechanic used gasket maker. Per mechanic, this was not what caused the engine to fail. With my truck at the shop in pieces, with no engine, I was advised I needed a 2nd rebuilt engine at $8500 (less core credit $3000) for a total $5500, which was paid 8-10-20. After waiting 5 more months, 2nd engine rcvd 1-27-21 & this one was missing upper & lower oil pan, pickup tube & screws. After a few more months missing parts arrive & 2nd engine installed 6-12-21. That engine also knocking & mechanic confirmed there were metal shavings in the oil. Contacted Ghassan again and told again engine would need to be sent back for inspection. Have now paid $6824 in labor to install 2 defective engines that cost me $17,695. It's unreasonable to expect anyone to go thru this process a 3rd time with the same shop who void your warranty & took 2 years & have sent you two bad engines.Business response

Engine was perfect fine when it left the facility, engine was retuned and inspected, no issues were found, engine was renewed due to being opened for inspection. Customer will not respond to our emails.Initial Complaint

My BMW X5m motor munched a rod bearing in Late 2020. The engine was sent to Ghassan Auto and arrived on March 8th (so they say). On April 26th, they claimed the engine was all rebuilt and ready to go. I paid the balance due in full ($8,795.00) on April 27th. Ever since they got my money, I have heard absolutely nothing from them. I’ve asked for any possible shipping info, etc. Now, they are completely unresponsive to both myself and my local BMW shop. No answer or response to calls, texts, or emails. I spent almost every cent I had to get this engine fixed. I was supposed to begin work on May 4th, but have been unable to because of the lack of an operating vehicle.Business response

Customer was updated, unfortunately due to high volumes of customer contacts, the customer was not updated within 24 hours, we greatly apologize, the customer has received their engine at this point. There were delays due to shipping terminals understaffing.Customer response

Ghassan Auto charged 11,695.00 on Sept 11 of 2020, of which 3,000 would be for a core charge being refunded to me when I returned the core. Which I have but not received the monies fro the core. 1) first problem. 2nd is the payment was for a completely rebuilt BMW M6 engine that had a warranty. I received the engine after a long wait and got engine installed by a professional mechanic and checked by certified BWM technicians. The engine was not running right. I spent over 7k more to get the diagnostics completed to ensure it was the engine and not the build. Since the builder continued to tell us it was not the engine. I can provide receipts below. The company (Ghassan) who built the engine continue to tell us to send the car to them to see what was the problem with the engine. Because they knew more about this than any of the mechanics that have seen this car. Three months ago Ghassan received my car and has yet to complete repairs or refund my money. This engine was not installed by a professional mechanic, core refund was mailed and was delayed by USPS due to the pandemic, client's vehicle was involved in an accident that caused the original engine failure, engine was replaced but other components in the vehicle need attention, customer was advised that he needs a new DME so we can continue operating his vehicle properly, client did not approve DME replacment, client demanded a refund and we agreed to refund client minus costs to return the engine.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:Ghassan,
I haven’t heard from you on anything specific about my car in two weeks. It has been 3months since you received my car. I’m concerned you took my money and
Then took no responsibility for the engine build. You first told me the engine vanos were not replaced but the used ones were on the car. So we put new ones on the car and then I was told it was a oil problem, then it was another issue. Now you said it was electrical.
At this point the BBB needs to get involved so I get some resolution. The car has been there far too long with no follow up. I texted you the last few weeks and there are been no replies or just we are working on it to blow me off. This is all after you told me to ship it you, your facility to get it fixed. This seems to be the biggest mistake I have made. You have only seemed to care about taking my money and tying up my car with no resolution attempts or sense of urgency.
I don’t understand the concept of messing customers over after they paid 11k+ monies..
Very sad..
