In July 2023 the plumber from Drabek came to my home to look for leaks found nothing. My water bill was running around ******. Afterwards I had the meter read again and still a leak some where.I called them back and they sent the plumber and another young man the plumber advised he could not find anything so the other man said he could run a pressure check. I asked him to check the sprinkler system first and he went outside. I assumed he was checking the sprinkler system and I went back to the kitchen on back of my house. Then I heard a loud noise and I went back to front house and the y man was in bathroom running test. I asked what he was doing and he said running pressure check. I said but I told you to check the sprinkler system before running the test. He then said we don't do sprinkler systems. I said why did you not tell me that when I asked you too. He advised he did not find anything with the pressure check that took about 3 minutes . He just turned around and walked out of my house. After he left the plumber did go and shut my sprinkler system off and that was the problem. I called the owner and spoke to him about this incident and he apologized for the young man then 6 months later I get a bill from them. The young man was in a car so I'm not sure if he was an employee of Drabek and Hill or another company. I am more than willing to pay the ****** for plumber but I will not pay for the shady pressure check. I have used Drabek and Hill before and was planning on having them replace my air conditioner unit but after this experience with them I will never call them again. I am in treatment at ******************* in ******* and 70 years old. I feel Drabek took advantage of me and they should know what this young man did. Everything about this event was shady.

On August 19th I called Drabek & Hill for a service call on my central a/c system. It had stopped working. They sent a technician out and charged me an after hours rate to evaluate and potentially fix the problem. Technician said it was the circuit board in the a/c unit in the attic. He didn't have the right part, but said he had one that should work. After installing this part he had me turn the system back on. This caused the outdoor until's circuit board to burn up and start smoking. He pulled the breaker and left it out, also left the unit partially open. He said it had shorted out and we would need a complete new a/c and heat system. He also said he would send someone out the next day to give us a quote on a new system. After waiting most of the next day I decided he didn't report it so I called another company to get quotes. I would like to request a refund of the service charge. I don't think I would have needed to replace both units had he not installed the wrong part in the a/c unit in the attic. The charges were paid with a credit card. When I called a few days later to find out why they didn't send someone they basically said it was an oversight. I let them know I had hired another company to replace my system and they just said, I guess we missed out.

      Hello,

On Thursday, August 21, 2023 at approximately 6:30pm, ************** arrived at your home to address a complaint that the air conditioner was not working.

His notes were as follows:  "High voltage short through the contactor on the Condenser to the control board   Control board is out L1 and contactor are melted. Actually smoking when I examined it. Customer does not want to go down the rabbit hole of fixing until it works. He would like a new unit. Customer also needs at least five wire for his thermostat, nest."

A service call was charged but nothing was charged for any additional repair.   Because ************** did diagnose the unit, albeit the unit was in an irreparable state, we do believe that the service call was charged with validity.  When we communicated by phone after the service call, this was communicated as well.

Thank you and we wish you the best with your new equipment.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: The response provided is not an accurate account of what happened. It might be what the repair technician told your office to explain why he couldn't repair our unit, and why he caused further damage to the outside unit by installing the wrong circuit board but is not accurate as to what was done on our unit. You make no mention of the fact that he installed a part that was not a match for the control board that he claims was shorted out. If the circuit board was smoking when he arrived, why didn't he tell us that before he went out to his truck to see if he had a replacement board and then why would he install a circuit board into a unit that was smoking? He stated after examining the unit in the attic that the circuit board in the a/c unit had failed and said he might have a replacement in his van. He came in with a circuit board and explained that it was not the exact part that was bad but said it might still work. But after installing that board in the attic, he came down and said he needed to look at the outside unit. He looked at the unit and then asked us to turn the thermostat back on so he could see the result. This is when the board in the outside until began to smoke and put off a burning smell. He immediately pulled the shut off breaker on the back of the house to prevent a fire. You also made no mention of him telling us that he would send someone out the next day to talk to us about replacing the unit but never did that. All of this points to his actions causing more damage and not solving any problems so he just didn't put in the request for a salesperson knowing that we would not hire this company to replace our a/c since they just caused more damage than it had when they arrived. If you think this is a justifiable service call and therefore, we should be charged the afterhours fee then we will have to disagree.
      Sincerely,
      *********************

***************** tech came out on 7/6/23. He immediately cleared the fault codes prior to checking them. He then missed the clogged drain tube that was causing the overflow sensor to trip and shutdown the system. He quoted $**** for repairs that did not need to be done. The installation people came out, did not do nearly all the work quoted (they installed valves in a hose instead of reinstalling the system), but still charged me the full amount of a 2 person, all day labor fee. They changed pumps that were not broken, because they couldn't figure it out the zero cost fix of clearing the drain tube. When I spoke with the service manager, he did a brief investigation. It didn't take long before inconsistent stories came out from the various people, with a few outright lying that I mentioned "loud, whining pumps". I had never mentioned the pumps, only the compressor upstairs (pumps are in a pump room, separate area). Clearly, someone trying to cover their tracks of changing out parts. All in all, they charged me a massive amount for a basic, zero part fix of clearing a clear, plastic tubing. They charged me $3500, and did not fix the problem, which was that clear drain tubing that was clearly clogged with debris and mold. When I approached the company about recompense, they only offered to refund the money for work they did NOT do but had charged me for (they were going to keep money on a false bill until I approached them), which was only a few hundred dollars. They are not trustworthy nor are they competent. If a homeowner with a screwdriver can fix the issue for free, and $3500 (**** + emergency service call fee) later they left the system in shutdown, they are not an honest company.

We are aware of the homeowner's complaints and disagreements as to the diagnosis of his geothermal heat pump system.  We have left voicemails and are working to communicate with him to come to an agreement.  Coming to an understanding is absolutely a priority for us.

On October 14th, 2022 I had a **************************** my garage and my electrical panel upgraded from a 100amp panel to a 200amp panel. The hole cut in the drywall for the new panel was too large and I was told that they would return to install a goof panel to cover the gap in the Sheetrock. I paid a total of $4,679.00 for service rendered and promised. In the past five months someone has returned 3 times to take measurements and once with an incorrectly sized goof panel. After the last measurement was taken on February 15th, 2023, I was contacted on February 17th and told that the installation would be completed on the 18th. No one arrived or called to reschedule on the 18th, and it is now March 3rd and I am still awaiting completion of the installation promised for payment rendered.

      ******,

I apologize that we have not completed this for you.  I know that you have spoken with our supervisor, ***, and have arranged for a day and time for us to install the panel.  There is simply no excuse for this slipping between the cracks on our part and it is not the way we typically handle business.  Thank you for understanding and allowing us to get this completed.
