I contracted this company to do a replacement roof and chimney repair. Upon completion of the roof they went to my wife when I was not home and told her that the job was finished. They collected payment. Did not finish the Roofing scope of work and did not do any of the work on the chimney. They have told us for over a month and a half that they would be out in the next day or so or the next week and have never shown up. They stopped responding to my phone calls and text messages. When my wife called from a different phone number they were quick to give her the same song and dance. Told her that they would be out by the end of the week last week and never showed up. No phone calls no emails no correspondence whatsoever. The roof project was secondary. The chimney was the biggest issue as it did not have proper flashing it has bricks and mortar joints that are broken allowing water to come into the house. We would have never done the roof project without doing the chimney. As stated before they informed my wife that all work was completed and collected payment.Business response

We provided 2 separate quotes for the roof replacement and the chimney. The roof contract was completed in its entirety. We received payment for that contract only. The chimney was to be completed afterwards. We had several men out with Covid for a 2 week period, the homeowner was informed that we were short staffed. We told the wife on a Tuesday that we would try to have someone there the following Monday, that we would be in contact. She proceeded to threaten us with contacting an attorney. We have been in business for 30 years, we do not work on threats. We have to adhere to a schedule just like any other company. When weather is a factor and short on staff for reasons beyond our control, our schedule gets behind. We feel at this point, the homeowner needs to contact another company to do the chimney repairs, that is in our best interest. We feel that this matter is solved and we have only been paid for the roof replacement, no other monies were accepted for the separate chimney quote.

****** ********The initial agreement was that the chimney work was to take place before the roofing started. The weather became an issue. The roofing materials were delivered. I was told on February 8 via text message from Tim that all work would begin I have documentation stating that the chimney would begin the next day when the roofing project began. As the job drug on due to weather and scheduling conflicts with their employees that were sick I noticed the chimney was not being worked on. I asked several times what the plan was. I was verbally told several times that the chimney would start as soon as Tim was available to perform the masonry work. I have further documentation from Tim stating that the chimney would start the next day. I received this text message on March 8. The chimney was never started and never completed. The chimney was a prerequisite for the roofing. They completed the roofing to approximately 90% of the agreed-upon scope of work. They then approached my wife when I was not home and informed her that the job is complete. Once they received payment in full which was the bulk of the two quotes they start taking my phone calls text messages. After several weeks of attempting to contact them with no responses my wife reached out from a different telephone number. They quickly answered thinking it was a potential new client. My wife was given the same response that the work would start and be completed within the week. It has been three weeks since that conversation. Just looking to get the work performed. The work that was paid in full is not complete as stated above per the scope of work.

You have been provided with the roof replacement scope of work that has been completed 100%. We have been paid for that contract. We have not been paid for the separate contract for the chimney. Again, we feel at this time it is best for the homeowner to get another person to do the chimney work. I have no further commentsCustomer response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.no we do not have a resolution. Cleves Roofing is lying. The roof is not 100% complete. I have photos of the things that were not complete. I also have photos of all of the rusty nails cat nails and miscellaneous trash that was not cleaned up. This was a package deal! Cleves Roofing Tim and Lori are very well aware! I have called around to several other contractors and no one is willing to do the work for anywhere near the price that we agreed to. Once again we would’ve never given Cleves Roofing just the roofing job as that was not the main concern! Once again I have text documentation as well as messages left by Cleves Roofing stating that the chimney was actually going to be started and completed before they even touched the roof! I feel as though Cleves Roofing should either come back and finish the job that they agreed to do as a package deal or they need to give the difference between what Tim quoted to do the chimney and what everyone else is now quoting to do the same work.
