My boyfriend and I were going to rent from Borchers and they asked for the security deposit of 750 dollars before we did the application. We got told we were approved and I had asked what we should do next and never got a response. My boyfriend found out we had to move to ******* so we called Borchers telling them we couldn't move in to the apartment anymore and we asked if we could get the security deposit back and they told us no because we cancelled it and didn't live in the apartment. We never signed a lease with them whatsoever.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2021/08/03) */ Good Afternoon! We received a complaint letter today that was sent to our POBox that was addressed to a ********. I am not sure who that person is. The letter stated that this is a second attempt and a previous letter of complaint had been sent to us.. This is the first letter that we are aware of receiving. In the case of the application with ********************************************, they applied for the apartment on 5/21/2021. They paid a hold fee/security deposit of $700.00. They were notified On June 3rd that they were approved. ***** did call in July to state that they were not able to move into the apartment as he had found employment in *******. I congratulated him on his new opportunity and we ended the phone call. We do still have the actual money order that they paid as a hold fee. It was not deposited, ***** is a current resident in one of our other apartments. I am not sure what the confusion is, I have contacted both ***** and ****** via voicemail to get this resolved. We did hold the apartment off the market for them for over 30 days, and told everyone who inquired that the apartment was no longer available. I feel that we are being more than fair to offer them a refund, Also, she had mentioned that she asked me what to do next, but she sent that in a text and I responded to her to check her email as I had sent her an email through our software system. I know that she referenced paying a deposit of $750.00, it was actually $700.00 as you will notice the attached. Also, in the future, your contact here would be ***********. Please remove the contact name ******** as she is not employed here. Thank-you for reaching out and assisting us in resolving this matter. I am waiting for a return call from either ****** or ***** and will follow up as soon as I receive the call
