I recently was in the market for a vehicle and did visit ******** ****** ***** in *********** ****. They ran my credit for a vehicle I was considering purchasing but decided not to complete the purchase. This vehicle was for me and I was not a co-applicant. I visited them around the end of September 2022. At that same time my information was either breached or falsely used because I later received a letter from a bank that my credit was ran because I was listed as a co-applicant for a person I do not even know, a ***** * ****** and the vehicle was entirely different. The dealer that requested this credit check was Andy’s Car and Truck Center, Inc with the same address and affiliation with ******** in **********. I was concerned my credit could be compromised so I reached out to ********* *****, the sales rep who assisted me at ********, who informed me she would have General Management contact me. No one did, so I sent an email to General Management through ******** website again about my concern and received a reply from William C******* who initially brushed it off stating he did not know how it happened. I informed him this answer was insufficient and again was told that GM would be in contact with me but I have heard from no one. I did not authorize this inquiry nor agree to be a co-applicant and now have this inquiry against my credit. Thankfully the application was denied so the inquiry is the only thing that needs removed and I have filed a dispute with the credit agency but I do not know if my information is safe with ******** because no one will contact me.Business response

Andy's Car & Truck Center (ACTC) agrees with *** ****** statement that she had shopped for a vehicle and that her credit was pulled. ACTC also agrees that subsequently *** ****** name was mistakenly added as a co-applicant for a car loan with another individual for an unrelated deal. However, upon discovering this mistake, ACTC was notified of the mistake and that is the reason the unrelated deal was rejected. The bank sent *** **** a notice required under the Federal Credit Reporting Act for when a loan is turned down. ACTC did not pull her credit a second time. If for some reason, there is an additional credit inquiry, ACTC will work with *** **** to get this resolved.Customer response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me as long as the inquiry is removed from my credit report.
