My son took his car here to have the usb port inspected. They quoted him over $500 to repair a simple usb port. When he dropped the car off he wasn't told anything about a diagnostics fee. He was told there would be a labor fee if the car was fixed. After quoting over $500 to fix a usb port he said he was going to pick the car up and take it elsewhere for a second opinion. They wanted to charge him a $180 diagnostics fee just to tell him what the issues was. This is a way of trying to strongarm him into using their repair shop since it would come off the cost of repair if he went with them. After speaking with the manager he admitted that the diagnostics fee was $180 for an hour and they only inspected his car for half an hour so he would charge $90 for the diagnostics. Again, if we would have been told about the fee when we dropped off the car we would have never left it there. They hid the fee behind the term "labor", attempted to strongarm him into paying their exorbitant prices, then admitted to overcharging him but still wouldn't waive the fee we weren't told about.Coughlin Automotive Group Response

I can definitely understand your frustrations with a diagnostic fee. Unfortunately, we have expenses in diagnosing vehicles - tech time, tools etc. All cars receive a diagnostic fee. This allows us to confidently pinpoint the issues. In your son's case the repair order has his initials directly under the original estimate of $180.00. They lowered the purchase price and after all was finished he just folded paper work and told me to put in my glove compartment until white title came in mail. He never went over the purchase price and all the add on and taxes and my down payment. I decided to look at what he stuffed in that envelope and realized he never gave the purchase price at all. They saw me coming a single old lady they could take advantage of and they did! They hurried through the process before I could think.Coughlin Automotive Group Response

I bought a Equinox beginning of December last month, not even 4 weeks later and the motor blows up.. I have tried to contact anybody and everyone there for the past 2 days and have gotten no response. Have yet to hear whether or not it can be fixed and how long it will take. They say rental is covered under warranty but I have yet to get that and it's been 3 days. I have called multiple times and left voicemails for anyone I can get ahold of and no call back for the past 2 days. All anyone wants is an update on whatever you can update them on and I haven't even gotten that.Coughlin Automotive Group Response

Daughter bought a certified used car from them last month, had to be towed back to them because it completely lost power and quit on her. She has the extended warranty and was not even offered a car off the lot to drive while hers was being repaired. They say she can rent a car at her own expense and if the claim is approved she can get some money back. She has a full time job and goes to nursing school full time too. Her first payment is due but you want her to shell out more money because the vehicle they sold her broke down. This place is a joke! Dont buy from them.Coughlin Automotive Group Response

I purchased a 2020 Kia Soul from this dealership (Coughlin Kia of Lewis Center) last year. the engine light came on so we took it to the dealer on 12/13/23 - was told that the Transmission fluid pump went bad - covered under warranty, and was told it will be a one-to-two day repair. Received a rental car as part of the Warranty. After waiting 5 days - called and left vm requesting a Status - No Response. After waiting another two days - left another vm - again with no response. It is now on-day shy of two weeks and after 8 reach-out, the general manager (****** ******) finally calls me and says he's sorry, which is nice, but the Customer Service at this Dealership is Non-existent....Beware this business - No Customer Service - Terrible!!!Coughlin Automotive Group Response

I was told after sitting for an hour that I would need to come back in the morning because they had to order a part. I came back in the morning and told their system was down and couldn’t do any work. I could leave my truck but they wouldn’t give me a loaner. I went home and had to bring my truck back the next day again! They kept the truck half a day and charged over $900.+ for batteries cables. I explained exactly what was wrong with the truck and the next day I had the same issues. They said the truck will drive fine and I need to bring it back but it will need a module which is very expensive. So what did they fix or not fix for $900?Coughlin Automotive Group Response

We went in interested in purchasing a car. An employee named ***** “assisted us”. We started the credit check which he specifically said they did NOT submit. We told him we do not want to submit it. The reason we didn’t want this is because, the car had significant damage in which they denied. ***** said he did not know about the damage, but upon asking, told us the reason the price was reduced $2,000 was because of damage. They had the car listed way more than it was worth, because of the extent of the damage. Nowhere did it say the car was damaged and they tried to hide it. When we said we wanted to leave, chase went and got his boss, and tried to convince us to stay. The boss said we had to sign papers for the credit check that we did not consent to. They lied to us and tried to scam us for business. We went over to Honda Marysville and got the best car we could ask for, at an amazing price, with no scamming!
