I took my 2019 Chevy Colorado to DunnChevrolet and Dustin Road in Oregon due to when I shut vehicle off fan was still running a few minutes and temp gauge was not registering I took it in on March 27, 2025 to have diagnostic testing done on it on March 28, 2025 was told it wasthermostat which was repaired and covered by insurance then I got a phone call telling me that they had to repair a gasket for the lower hose gasket leading to the radiator That when the truck was running, they saw seeping antifreeze, which was not doing when I took it in I don’t know if it happened due to the repair of the thermostat. ? Also, they gave me a vehicle to use why my truck was in getting the testing done you have repair done which I got the car from them to use on March 27, 2025 in return on 41 2025 when I picked up my truck When I called Insurance, I was told that the gasket for the lower hose leading to the radiator where they said the problem they found was covered then I called and asked to speak with the manager. Which a **** or ****up came to Phone and asked when I explained tohim he asked me how I talked to *** who was the manager or also who took care of me when I went in with my truck And I said no I asked for a manager first, so there was no chaos so not only did they overcharge me charge the insurance a day or two on the rental car the part that they charge me when I call back there after I talk to the warranty company, who informedme that yes the gasket would’ve been covered when I called and talked to ***. Then he changed it from radiator to water pump but on mysales paper that are receipt that they gave me it says lower radiator hose gasket. I just feel I was taking an advantage of.

****** **** did bring her 2019 Chevy Colorado in for service with the condition as described by her of fan running after shutting down vehicle and temperature guage not registering. We diagnosed the condition with it needing a new thermostat. She did have a service contract which was contacted by our service adviser ***. That repair was covered with ****** having a $ 200.00 deductible. *** also got authorization for up to a maximum of 7 days of rental car coverage from the service contract. She is correct that she did not have the rental car for that amount of ***e. She was also not charged for any rental car fee. The service contract only pays the days the vehicle was down to repair & will not pay for anymore days after the vehicle is repaired. We have to submit the repair order to service contract company for final approval on amount of days. So, even know they gave a maximum approval,  they will only pay for the days used up to the maximum. This is normal business for these transactions. So, the only confusion is in communication, since it does state in our not section of interaction with service contract and with customer. Once the thermostat was replaced & repair completed, technician filled coolant & bled system for air pockets, & then pressure tested for leaks. He noticed leak coming from lower radiator hose going to the engine block. We contacted the service contract company to report issue & repair to see if covered. It was not a covered repair under the policy she has. We then contacted ****** to report the leak & explained that the repair was turned down by her service contract. She approved the repair which consisted of 2 hours labor due to where it is located and a .78 cent seal.  I am not sure how we took advantage of her. Our technician did what he is trained to do by reporting issue. We explained it was not covered by her service contract. We got here approval. The water pump on this engine is located under intake on top of the engine, the leak is at bottom hose going to block. We did call her service contract company back today to verify if this was a covered repair. They stated that it was not a covered repair. They did state that it is all on record with them of both ****** conversation & ***'s from our dealership as to when called in & what was discussed. I understand that ****** is not happy with having to pay for the repair. It is not fun to have to pay for upkeep at today's dollar amounts.  I am going to try to reach out to ****** to further discuss. Sincerely, ***

I am rejecting this response because:  No they are correct I myself did not paid for rental car But……. They did charge 7 days to the insurance .Also when I first spoke with *** and told him I call to see if repair was covered….. I was told oh don’t call and asked them anything He would call like it something bad for me to call as it is my policy. So after the two different instances I did not feel like I could trust him  .then when I got the copy of bill  just was not all adding up . So I do feel within myself he seen a lady come in and I was took advantage of. I’m sorry that’s how I feel.

Don’t understand why if diagnostic testing was done ? Why did the seeping not  show them? Also on my receipt they stated (Lower Radiator hose gasket. Then when I call *** told me it had to do with water pump .

      Sincerely,

      ****** ****

******* I would like to apologize for my previous response stating that the water pump is located under the intake on top of the engine. I meant to type the thermostat is under the intake at the top of the engine. I should have looked that over before sending. I am sorry that you felt that you were taken advantage of. With your statement of *** instructing you not to call your service contract, I do believe he was trying to save you ***e of calling in to them. They certainly will let you know what is covered or not, but unless it is checked out & diagnosed, the insurance would not be able to give you an authorization to fix what was wrong or let you know if it is a covered repair. It appears that this could of been communicated on better terms with you. The 1st diagnosis was a covered repair which we all agree with. The 2nd repair was not. You then authorized to pay for your deductible & the 2nd repair that was not covered.  This too, I think we can all agree with. I did check into how many rental days were payed for by your service contract. They did authorize up to 7 even know you only had it for 6. Once we send in completed documents they normally only pay for the amount that you had the rental. Which would have been 6 days. They did however indeed pay for that extra day. When we called this in to further discuss they stated not to worry about that. I did authorize to sent your service contract back a payment for the extra day they ok'ed & told us not to worry about. That is being sent back to your service contract. So, I do apologize for you feeling you were treated wrongly. We strive to take care of our customer's. We have been in business since 1909 by doing just that. I do not agree that we should pay for your repair though. So, we are rejecting your request for us to cover the cost you authorized to repair your coolant hose leak. Sincerely, ***

Repairs were completed on January 14 2025 for 2014 Captiva for a error codes p0014 and p0011. Paid around 3400 dollars. When I drove off the property of Dunn Chevrolet within 5 minutes p0014 error came up again. Immediately scheduled for service at 8:30 A M. the next day on January 15th. I arrived early with the car 15 minutes before schedule. Informed the of the issue of have the same issue. I was informed by staff they will look and diagnose the car later this afternoon and will receive a call back. When I was called I was informed I was going to cost an additional 3500 dollars but since I was just here for same repair. It was only going to cost 2500 dollars. As of today I am still waiting for the car to be repaired to also replace the timing chain that was overlooked.

      Hello BBB

I would like to start with the vehicle we repaired is a 2014 Captiva with 158,000 miles.  Vehicles do wear out unfortunately.  This vehicle arrived with zero oil in the engine and customer complaint was rough running.  Vehicle blew out rear main seal with is a very common failure if the oil is not changed regularly or has no oil.  We did the rear main seal repair and customer picked up the vehicle.  Vehicle showed a check engine light soon after customer picked up the vehicle and was brought back.  This time vehicle needed timing chains replaced - a totally different condition/repair from the first repair of blown rear main seal.  We did the chain replacement at a discount.  So the customer actually saved money by having the two repairs done separately.  We are sorry the vehicle failed but Dunn did zero wrong in this case.

      Sincerely

I am rejecting this response because:oil change has and is always on schedule. If the vehicle was out schedule the Captiva would indicated it was time for an oil change. The car lost oil pressure while waiting at the dealership when I initially arrived the first time . The check engine light was for error code p0014 and p0011 which would have required an inspection of the camshaft as stated in all service bulletins of this type of engine. When I received the vehicle on January 14 2025 vehicle again had p0014. Staff stated that they did drive it around only once with no error code. They informed me error codes required the car to be driven twice in order for error code to be triggered. If that is a solid fact then why wasn't the car test twice?. Typically the car's engine has to lifted to properly replace the seal. If the camshaft area was inspected initially the timing chain issue would have been detected and I would have not had to pay for the labor of pulling up the engine twice.

      Sincerely,

We have not claimed the oil changes were not done.  A poo11 and p0014 codes tell us to verify the condition of the oil and oil level.  We did that and being the rear main seal was blown there was no oil in the vehicle.

So we replaced the rear main seal that requires removing the transmission, not removing the motor, and this repair is done at the back of the motor.  The second repair was replace timing chains which also does not require removing the motor and this repair is done at the front of the motor.  These two repairs are 100% separate failures/ repairs.

      Sincerely
