I paid for four visits counseling visits in January 2022. There was a relief given and my insurance company paid those funds back to me for those four visits. I contacted the counseling office to advice I got a refund check after I got the first one from my insurance company and also contacted my insurance company to inquire why I received it. Both my insurance company and the counseling office indicated it was for this relief. The counseling office proceeded to tell me I was going to be getting a credit, even knowing I had received these funds from my insurance company. I am a first time mom, I had a four month old at the time and had just started back to work full time Jan 4, 2021. I didn’t think much into and was just thankful for this relief being provided. On 10/25/21, this past Monday the counseling office indicated that the credit shouldn’t have applied, that the insurance company gave them the wrong codes and said I owe around $485 within 7 days or they would pull these funds from my account or set up a payment plan but basically if I did not agree, they were ultimately going to take it or withhold care. I talked to my insurance company and they indicated they do not provide codes to them. It is up to them to file it correctly. So they made a mistake filing and want me to pay for it. I would have never spent that money which is why I reached out to them in the first place because I knew if I spent it, with the way times are, I wouldn’t be able to pay it back. However they said I was still getting the credit knowing I received the funds. They said they “just discovered” I got the funds from my insurance co. but I have emails showing I notified them back when I received the first check after they credited me around $303. In addition, they charged my FSA card after requesting they use my other card on file (bank card) yet failed to do so. I have to wait to upload my FSA documentation but the email request is uploaded.
