They tried to scam me and my husband. We purchased a new heating and cooling system for approximately 10k 9 years ago. On 7/23/23 The AC was not working it would not turn on. We payed $148.00 for service to have a tech name Tom(06K- Tom) to come at our house to diagnose the wrong problem and try to over charge us. He looked at our Ac and 5 minutes later he told us that the motor needed to be changed. He had to order the part. A week later he showed up to replace the motor. He proceeded to tell us that the circuit board needed to be changed as well. He pulled out a large binder with all these ridiculous overpriced charges close to $900.00. We knew that he was lying about the motor being bad. We suggested that we wanted a second opinion. His whole demeanor changed. He got quiet packed his belongings waved his hand and walked out the door. My husband tried to talk to him but he completely ignored him. Initially I call called the Grove City office to follow up with how Tom how he handled the situation. I spoke with a representative name Jessica. She was very condescending! I had to ask for a receipt for the service call charged $148 dollars and she emailed me a copy. I also asked a invoice for the charges that Tom diagnosed. She said that he would discuss the price in person, REALLY!!! They didn’t want to give me a written or over the phone quote. Then I spoke with Jim the general manager. He was even worse very rude and abrupt. He had a nerve to call me ignorant. They care less about the customers. They need to be educated on how to deal with customers. After Tom diagnosed the wrong problem. I tried speaking with Jim on two separate occasions to discuss that we had a second opinion from a different company. There is nothing wrong with the motor it is in good condition. It was the circuit board that cost $112. We paid a total of $300 including a labor charge and a tip for the tech being sufficient, getting the job done the same day being honest and professional!!Review from Sri R

They have very bad customer support. Without any basic tech support on call, even for very small issues they pay a visit to the house and charge a flat rate of $99 as visiting fee which can be resolved when they have some basic tech support. These are systems they work with every day and install in hundreds of homes. Saying they don’t have support is plain looting of money from customers specifically for simple issues.Review from Wanda B

Joel was professional but not friendly. Usually air conditioner inspection is done quickly. After 1 &1/2 hrs was told sending invoice Email there's a problem - a weak part in your furnace that sould be replaced. Cost to replace $330 with your discount $307. Was not told length of warranty of part until installed.Review from Patricia H

We had a yearly contract with another company for over 20 years. When the tech came in for the yearly furnace check he stated we needed a new furnace, at that time it was 10 years old and just past the warranty date, he red tagged it. His manager came to our house the following day to write up a contract for new furnace which we signed. I thought I would get a 2nd opinion since I had a three day window to void the contract. I called this local company, American Air, who sent out a tech who looked at the furnace. Their tech said it was just fine and removed the red tag. I voided the contract with the other company. That was over 4 years ago and our furnace is still working just fine. The tech said, if it isn't broken, don't fix it. We've requested the same tech from American Air ever since. We've had no problems but if there was one we would let American Air take care of the issue. We now have a yearly contract with American Air. We have been using American Air for many years and have never had a bad experience. ****************** was ************** on May 3 and did an outstanding job. He had another fellow with him and they were both very professional. I would definitely recommend ******* for service work.Review from Tom H

we have been an American Air customer for 17 years and have been very pleased with their responsiveness (several years ago when our thermostat failed on a Saturday and it was in the middle of August they came out within 2 hours, replaced the thermostat and we were up and running in short order). The service techs have always been professional in their conduct and have shown expertise in doing the work they are scheduled to do; no wasting of time and always cleaning up after themselves.Review from Valerie

They tried to scam me. I have the annual package to check a/c and furnace each year. This was my a/c check. My a/c is working FINE with NO issues. The tech told me I need a new a/c >$9k. When I challenged him the he said I just needed Freon $700. I challenged AGAIN. Then he said the *** is bad and needs replaced. So as a single female I ****** it and phone a friend to find out hes trying to scam me. The Voltage Absorption System aka electrical capacitor is a $60 part and theres no such thing as its bad. Its either working or its not. When I challenged him AGAIN he apologized and left. When he got out the front door he came back in to apologize again. I called the company to talk to someone in charge. The lady tried to get me to tell her the issue. I refused. I wanted an owner/ manager to call me back so I could talk live to them. A couple days later a lady called me back and asked again what the issue was. I refused to tell her and made it clear that I felt the tech was scamming me and I needed to talk to someone in charge. I have NEVER received a call back so when I got an email from the company to rate them, I gladly wrote this review. This company should be ashamed!Review from Ralph B

Our tech did a great job on our semi annual service. He also answered all my questions on whether it was time to replace the existing air conditioner and furnace which is now several years old. I recommend American Air because they have had excellent service in the five years since we bought this condo from the original owners.
