Purchased vehicle 2014 jeep compass April 16 2021. I was deceived by County Car Credit during purchasing of the vehicle. County Car Credit fraudulently sold me the vehicle knowing of issues and illegally tampered with the vehicle turning off the engine light to make a sale. I haven't been able to speak with ****** *******, reached out to County Car Credit but wasn't able to speak with him. I have spent over 7500.00 purchasing this vehicle that they want 9000.00 for.Asked to do a trade in and was told I don't have enough equity in it. Im willing to take some loss in a trade or refundBusiness response

On or about April 16, 2021 *** ******* test drove and purchased a 2014 Jeep Compass and a 24 month unlimited mile service contract. Now 6 months later and *** ******* has driven in excess of 10,000 miles of successful service, the vehicle now needed repairs. *** ******* asked for help, so we assisted him in getting a claim to the Warranty Company. When *** ******* picked up his vehicle I explained to *** ******* that I need the vehicle back here within a week so I can check to see if any hidden codes may have appeared. We are happy that we were able to get all his repairs done with out any cost to *** *******. Here at County Car Credit we strive for good customer relations at all times!Customer response

Response received by BBB Staff SE via emailI ******* ******* have attempted purchasing a 2014 jeep compass from County Car Credit on April 16, 2021 May of 2021 the vehicle had an issue something with the oil pan and the engine light was on. County Car Credit request that I bring the vehicle to them stating that they were going to take care of things at no cost to me. I took them the vehicle they Serviced the vehicle and I picked up the vehicle went directly to get the aims test that day. Two weeks later the engine light was on again I went to County Car Credit were ****** ******* did a diagnosis say it was reading/coding that the 3rd coil core charge was misfiring and it was showing a e-vap code. *** ******* then told me that they had no mechanics and wouldn't be servicing the vehicle but offered to turn the engine light off. I then pursued other means of getting the repairs done. I tried using the warranty because I was told the core/coil charge was covered but when I took the vehicle to I & Q shop for Service issues about what was covered and what County Car Credit was going to pay and what my out of pocket expense was. I was a little confused about everything that was happening because when the warranty is sold to me for $1200.00 I was told if I needed to use the service I would be responsible for paying a $100.00 deductible. I then took the vehicle to another shop for the service and paid out of my pocket for the Service the engine light was still on because the e-vap situation. I received a gas cap from Broken Wheel which was used to replace the old one. The engine light remains on and I go back to County Car Credit where I spoke with *** ******* nephew **** whom informed me that County Car Credit was in no was responsible/liable for any issues that I was having with the vehicle. I tried several times to get County Car Credit to do the right thing without having to file any complaints they refused. It is against the law for any car dealer to tamper with their vehicles turning off the engine light and not informing the buyer of the issues. Now 6 months later County Car Credit is acting as they're doing a good samaritan act fixing the issues they knew of and should have done prior to the sale.

On or about April 16th *** ******* test drove and purchased a 2014 Jeep AS-IS, and purchased a service plan through CARS Warranty Company. On May 13th *** ******* brought his car back with an oil leak. We replaced his oil pan as a Good Will Repair with NO cost to *** ******* even though 2,000 miles had been driven since purchase.
On August 31st 3 ½ months after purchase, *** ******* came by with his car with concern of a check engine light. Now driven over 6000 miles, we ran the compute code to be cylinder # 3 misfire. We explained his service contract and that he can take it to a shop of his choice, and suggested that it might be an ignition coil.
Now on October 15th, 6 months after purchase and driven 10,000 miles, *** *******'s alternator failed. Again explained his service plan to him but he did not want to hear it. Even though we do not take outside service work, we made an exception and agreed to service his vehicle here. Along with the alternator, he still had code for cylinder # 3 misfire (which apparently was never serviced) and now a code for the Catalytic Converter which is now ruined from driving the car with a misfire for over 3,000 miles. We submitted warranty claims and was able to get service work done at NO COST to *** *******.
We went above and beyond any obligation to help *** ******* and a lot of this could have been avoided had *** ******* adhered to general maintenance.
