Upon touring the apartment on June 23rd, 2023, Gaslight Properties Management verbally confirmed the property does not have a bug infestation of any kind and that the property on a monthly basis has a pest control professional treat the properties. On August 1st, 2023, when I moved in, it was clear the terms and agreements prior to moving in were not fulfilled from the property including exposed, faulty, electrical cords from the stove and refrigerator sharing the same extension cord providing a safety hazard, a hole in the wall in the bedroom closet, windows with no screens fully open in the hallways (big enough for people to get into), and an infestation of cockroaches in the whole building breaking safe and sanitary conditions. On august 2nd, I requested to terminate my lease and obtain my money back while providing evidence of mentioned problems. Gaslight properties only gave me these 3 options:1. Continue to pay rent while we find someone to take over the lease and only get our security deposit back. 2. Break the lease with a fee of two months worth of rent which would be just under $3000. 3. Live there and if the roaches arent gone in 4 weeks, we can break the lease only paying for the month of august rent. In this scenario, they told me I have to go and sweep up the dead cockroaches after they spray every week. I am a UC student and classes start in 2 weeks. My roommate is in **** serving this country and doesnt come home until classes start. Losing over a thousand to thousands of dollars for something that isnt our fault while now not having secure housing is unethical. The property has no compassion and just wants your money. They even admitted they knew who in the complex had roaches and they didnt do anything about it until now. Do not live here.Gaslight Property LLC Response

To whom it may concern; Gaslight Property was not aware of a pest issue with the apartment home. When preparing the home i.e., painting, cleaning, etc., there was no evident activity of a pest issue. Upon taking possession of the apartment home it was reported to Gaslight Property that there were pests in the apartment. Upon initial communication, we scheduled a professional pest control technician to treat the home and will continue to do so until we eradicate the issue. Our team has inspected the home every couple of days to clean up any dead pest. We are confident the issue will be resolved.Review from Jon M

My rent was supposed to be 995.00 ended up being 1201.00 every month and when I would call to speak to them about being late the property manager Michelle never returned my calls they took me to court 3 time for being late and even though I couldn't pay that price I always managed and then they showed up one day while I was at work and took everything out of my apartment stating the notice was left on the gate there are 2 other apartments in the building that use that gate. They broke almost every niknac and dish I owned they treated my things like garbage and I wasn't even behind in rent.Review from Rachel G

Expecting us to pay $565 a month when our one bedroom apartment is cold and has floor boards lifting up and cutting our feet. Even underneath the carpet we've requested to get replaced weeks ago. Cold air is getting in through the floor boards. We've had maintenance issues the entire two years we've been here. Nothing gets done unless we fix it ourselves, talk to Rob (her boss), or we constantly go to the office to speak with Kristina R*****, who has been completely rude to us and clearly doesn't care. What's worse is that our safety is constanty in jeopardy because of our neighbors and nothing has been done. I don't recommend renting from Gaslight Property in the ******* neighborhood. If I had known better, I would've rented elsewhere.Review from Amadou D

On 11/8/2021. I was harassed by a property manager. She was asking me if I lived here I told her multiple times that I did and she keep asking me where I lived and I told her I didnt have to tell her because Ive never seen her before. She replied that I did not live here and that she was going to ban me from coming here and to call whoever I am visiting because shes trying to keep all of her residents safe although I am a resident. She then goes to tell me shes going to call the police while following me into the building. She was being very rude causing a major scene outside racially profiling me the whole time because I wouldnt tell her my apartment number. She made me feel very uncomfortable and very scared the way she was harassing me at the door.Gaslight Property LLC Response

****************, as you are aware you have been parking in an unauthorized parking location at The Whitfield for some time now. We have been trying to identify who had been parking there as your vehicle is not registered with us. Upon review of the footage and eye witnesses, its seems you were the aggressor, even cursing at the property manager making her uncomfortable enough to leave the situation. Please understand our property manager was doing her job questioning where you live as it is in fact her business to know who is violating the tenant ********************** Your refusal to identify yourself and become aggressive, cursing at the property manager, will not be tolerated. As you could imagine, this also led her to believe you did not live at the property since you refused to identify who you were and which apartment you lived in. Both of the employee's you approached wear a badge identifying who they are and are authorized to enforce the tenant ********************* fairly at any time. We hope you understand the importance of enforcing these policies and ask that you cooperate with our team regarding any future correspondence.
