We despise this theiving company. They made excuses every step of the way for every claim we tried to file. They happily took our payments every month and, NOT ONCE, from several attempted legitimite claims, did they reimburse us a single dime. Year after year they increased prices and deductables and they gave us NOTHING. We didn't even get the peace of mind of being insured because we were never confident they would actually pay us anything. If I could rate CHM negative stars I'd go to the **** They weren't good on any level and I can't beleive how much money they got from us before I finally cancelled this pathetic excuse of a service. I will absolutely deter anyone I know from dealing with them if asked. I'll have to try hard to not be vengeful and vocal about my disdain for them. They disgust me with all their "Christian" talk with nothing but greed and love of money that I've witnessed. I hope they fail and that the decision makers actually responsible for all their theft enjoy their corruptable possessions. The only blesssing we've received from interacting with this company was that we are finally done with them!Christian Healthcare Ministries, Inc. Response

Hello ******, We're sorry you've been dissatisfied with your experience at CHM.I reviewed your membership, and I see that you submitted one bill last year, and we were unable to process it because we needed a Medical Release Form consented and signed by you, the patient. We sent you two different requests for this form. You say you submitted multiple incidents, but we have no record of any additional submissions; we only the one bill, and we would've happily processed and shared out eligible charges had we received the form we needed. We wish you well moving forward,CHM StaffReview from Karen H

Last year I had to have 3 heart caths which involved 2 hospital overnight stays and 5 stents put in. The initial communication was a little slow and cumbersome and I think CHC covered all of the expense except for my individual responsibility payment. (The only complaint I have is that they didn't explain which bills/services they were covering when they sent me reimbursement). They are still working on negotiating the last hospital bill but they send me an email several times a month letting me know they are still working on it and they will cover the final amount due however it is resolved with the hospital. I cannot say enough good things about CHC. Read the guidelines and make sure you understand what is covered and is not covered before you sign up and you won't have any problems.Christian Healthcare Ministries, Inc. Response

As I read through these reviews, I see that when Christian HealthCare Ministries responds, they accept no responsibility. I have been extremely frustrated with CHM. Something changed in the past 1 1/2 years as to how things are handled. We are waiting for reimbursement and they have had our paperwork for many months. It takes them months to get through it. We chased down every provider asking for cash discounts, BEFORE we submitted the paperwork. We went through the school insurance and submitted all the paperwork BEFORE we were asked. We are getting requests for paperwork that was already sent in, and in some cases, also uploaded to their system. This is continuing to hold up the process for a reimbursement. We have spent so much time on the phone. For some of their requests, we had no idea there was a request. How would we know to continue to check the portal to see if there was yet another request? It has become ridiculous the past 1 1/2 years. Still waiting on reimbursement. There has to be a better way, but does CHM think so or will they shift the blame once again to the customer and continue on with their frustrating processes as they ask for forms they have had in their possession for months?Christian Healthcare Ministries, Inc. Hello ******,We're sorry to hear you've been dissatisfied with your experience. I reviewed your membership, and I can confirm a reimbursement check was issued last week (March 12). It should be arriving shortly. We're sorry you've had a frustrating experience with our sharing process. We've had higher than usual sharing times since the new year, and we are working on reducing it. We apologize for any stress you've experienced as a result. We would also like more information on the issues you've experienced when submitting your medical bills and receiving requests for more information. Please fill out our feedback survey on our website so we can review the issues you experienced (CHMinistries.org/blog/how-are-we-doing)we want to know how we can better serve you. "Christian" Healthcare Ministries are some of the most unhelpful people I've ever interacted with. They send records requests to providers, but they don't notify you that they have done so. In fact, they don't tell you ANYTHING unless you call and ask. If you don't call and ask, and they don't hear back from your medical provider, they will automatically ignore the bill pay request. These people are unbelievably bad at what they do. Stay as far away from them as possible.Christian Healthcare Ministries, Inc. Response

Hello, We're sorry for frustrations you've experienced in regard to our request for your medical records, and we appreciate the opportunity to respond. When we request medical records from a member's provider, we send both a letter to the provider and a letter to the member, informing them of the request we're making. If we don't hear from either the member or the provider after a few months, we will automatically close the incident. However, we will happily re-open the incident, review the records, and authorize medical bills according to the CHM Guidelines should the member or provider respond to our request. We hope this speaks to your concerns, and we look forward to processing your medical bills in accordance with our CHM Guidelines once we have the information we need to move forward. I am so thankful for Christian Healthcare Ministries. I have been in ministry and a small business owner most of my life. "Traditional" health insurance plans have been out of reach, much too expensive. Not to mention trying to find "in-network providers" that understand my complex medical history. Since joining CHM a burden of worry & frustration has been lifted. I can see the doctors & healthcare professionals that best suit me & my needs. I know my monthly contribution to CHM is truly helping others' needs, not just paying for billing & filing department employees. (Nothing against those employees but the paperwork & bureaucracy of insurance are unnecessary.) I ended up in the hospital in early 2022, totally unexpected. Because I was in control of my own medical bills & not automatically running everything through insurance I was able to get significant discounts from the hospital. CHM helped me pay off the rest of the bills which wound up being less than $500. I cant imagine what my out of pocket would have been with insurance, probably double what I ended up paying.Christian Healthcare Ministries, Inc. Response

Per current medical advice, I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy done at 50. I searched for an economical clinic and found ******************************, which paired me with a clinic at a fantastic price. After the procedure, I sent all the information to CHM, expecting to receive my bill minus the deductible. They refunded me the entire amount (i.e. didn't take the deductible).Christian Healthcare Ministries, Inc. Response

Hello ****,Thank you for sharing your *** experience! We did make changes to how the Personal Responsibility works, but those changes didn't take effect until 2023. Because your colonoscopy took place in 2022, the old rules still applied, which meant you didn't have to pay the Personal Responsibility amount. I hope that helps clear up any confusion.Blessings,CHM StaffReview from Andrea W

Do not ever use CHRISTIAN HEALTHCARE MINISTRIES!!!! They will not pay for any bill they say they will. They constantly raise their minimum that they will cover. Ours fluctuated $500 in about 3-4 months!!! Meaning if your bill was $1000 or less you pay it without them helping at all!!! They told me last year theyd cover my procedures, and dropped the ball at the last minute leaving me devastated. Promising beforehand that theyd cover everything! They advised me last year to not do any doctor advised surgeries and see it as giving up my spot (life) for someone else who needs it more. WHAT?!!! When they MISUNDERSTOOD? and thought I had cancer, they were going to make me pay in a certain amount of money to see if their board would decided to cover any cancer treatments or not. What would I had done if this was a cancer treatment?!!! These are not Christian people! THESE PEOPLE are con artists! They WONT COVER A BILL that I had just received. (BECAUSE WE ARE CURRENTLY NOT MEMBERS AT THIS CURRENT MOMENT!!!!) Even though when the bill was billed we were members! Leaving me with a $14,000 bill due now. DO not let your family or any other friend or family member sign up with the scam artists! They advertise as a type of health insurance, but they are there to watch people suffer and at the worst case, die! They are not there to help anyone except themselves get rich! Apparently all that people are worth to them is a $ sign. Run far from them! They are an evil corporation!Christian Healthcare Ministries, Inc. Response

Hello ******,We hope that you will understand that had your bills been eligible for sharing under our Guidelines, they would most certainly have been shared, just as CHM has met the needs of its members for 41 years and has satisfied more than $10 billion of members eligible medical bills. When you called us about your procedure in February, the ****** Services representative you spoke to misunderstood that you were asking about receiving an ineligible preventative procedurethey thought that you currently had a cancer diagnosis. However, regardless of that miscommunication, you were not given a promise of reimbursement; you were told that the procedure was typically eligible for current cancer patientswhich was not applicable to youand that we would review your bills upon receipt. When you called back in March for advice on scheduling the procedure, you clarified that this procedure was preventative in nature and you didnt have cancer. You were informed at that point, before your surgery was ever scheduled, that it would be ineligible for sharing. All medical bills are processed according to the ministrys Guidelines to ensure fairness and consistency for, and to, all members. If you had read the Guidelines, you would have seen that the preventative procedure you wanted was ineligible for sharing. You would have also seen our disclaimer: when you call in for eligibility questions, we can only give opinionsnot decisions.Because of the misunderstanding, the case was reviewed, and it was determined that we couldnt share for the procedure since you were informed prior to the procedure taking place. However, to ensure fairness due to the misunderstanding, we did take several steps to rectify it, such as:- Offering to share any pre-surgery expenses incurred between the time you first called in February through the date of the determination, and - Reimbursing your monthly payments for March and April 2023 during the two months you thought, though incorrectly, that the surgery could be shared because, as you stated, you would have cancelled your membership and looked elsewhere had you known it was ineligible When CHM offered to reimburse payments for those months, it meant your membership would end Feb. 28, 2023, and no further bills could be shared after this date (See Guideline II.G.1-2). This was explained to you prior to the reimbursement being made, and you stated that you had no further bills to submit. With respect to program changes, there have been revisions to members Personal Responsibility amounts; however, CHM also provides ways to reduce these amounts. We began informing members of program pricing changes using multiple emails, billing statements, ****************** editions, and more months before the date the changes went into effect. The reasons inflation and historically high program usage were clearly explained. Thats in keeping with our policy of transparency. If you would like to discuss this further, we invite you to please call us at **************.Blessings,CHM StaffReview from Sus C

CHM has taken care of my family since 2015. My son's wife had triplets that spent over a month in NICU with hospital bills over $1 million dollars. CHM took care of everything, so the parents could take care of those babies without any bill worries. THANK YOU CHM, you are God sent! Also, my husband had a mini stroke and CHM took care of his $15,000 bill including ambulance minus our $1000 deductible. We are so grateful for CHM.Christian Healthcare Ministries, Inc. Response
