we rented from terraces on the green for the past year while we were building our new home. when we moved in, we did a walk through and noted any damage and also that the carpet was not new being that my dog was eating old pet food from the floor, and I had to pull it from his mouth. I called the office, and they informed me that the carpet had been cleaned. while we were living there, we made sure we kept that apartment immaculate. we did not hang any pictures and caused no damage. our dogs when we were gone at any time were in cages. we put up with many things. a broken oven for a year, a flooded apartment twice d/t broken air conditioning unit, doors falling off in the laundry room my husband would hang back up, backed up bathroom and told to use our other bathroom until someone could in to fix because of COVID, a sink that was broken and told to not use because it was not an emergency, a rotted hole in the middle of the kitchen floor that we were told was fine and would be fixed when we moved out. upon moving out we had the apartment cleaned along with the carpets done. my husband had to hand in the keys 2 weeks early because we were going to be in ****** for the birth of our granddaughter. he ask for a walk through before we left and was told they did not have time, and everything would be fine because they had all the records in the office. we believed them. when we got our return, they charged us for damage to the carpet saying it was pet urine. our pets do not urinate in the house. when I called and ask for further information regarding this issue I was told when they entered the apartment there was a pungent smell in the apartment. there is always a pungent smell because the people below us smoke marijuana on a daily and we normally had to come home and open our windows to air the place out along with the neighbors. I am appalled that we were treated this way and I want my 600.00 back. You cannot charge someone for damage to a carpet that is not brand new when they moved in and the people prior to us had pets also. I tried to resolve this issue already. all I am asking is to treat us fairly.
