      This company installed new pavers for a new in ground pool starting on December 15th 2022. The job was completed in a week and they were paid in cash in full. Receipts are collected. Then on January 19th 2023 there was a flood in basement due to the improper pitch of there paver installation. They came and put a French drain in on January 21st and charged an additional $400. This drain did not fix their improper pitch and caused another backup. They then installed a new drum on January 24th and after completion they are charging an additional $800. None of these issues would have occurred if the pitch of the pavers was away from my basements steps and towards the original French drain they installed. Their mistake caused a flood and damage to basement walls and floor. Due to the improper pitch we will need to rip up the entire pavers and install new ones.

      The following is responding to complaint #********
      As per the customers statement,Long Island Landscape Designs, Inc. completed a project at the ******* Residence in a timely fashion and was paid in full.
      The swimming pool was installed prior to the arrival of Long Island Landscape Designs, Inc. by an
      entirely different company hired by the ******* Residence.
      The pitch of the patio is pitched towards a garden bed (that is positioned up against the house foundation) to prevent the new swimming pool from collecting rainwater. A French drain was installed by Long Island Landscape Designs, Inc. during the initial construction to collect the runoff into a small drywell.

      During the construction,a small landing and step for the cellar entrance was installed.
      The customer then stated that the existing drainage in the basement steps would be adequate.
      Thus, as per our proposal and contract,a new drainage system in the basement steps were not estimated (, and stated as such.)

      On January 20th,2023 Long Island Landscape Designs, Inc. received a phone call, email as well as text messages consisting of picture and videos in regard to a water issue. The customer claimed to have dirty/muddy water leaking into the basement (, likely from the planting bed.) The following day on January 21st, 2023 Long Island Landscape Designs, Inc. returned to install a French drain along with a track drain at the top of the basement steps to prevent any water from overwhelming the existing drainage system. The ******* Residence and Long Island Landscape Designs, Inc. were in agreement for the fee of $400.00 in exchange.

      On January 23rd,2023 the customer stated that the new drainage system was helping, however there is still water seeping through *****************, although it was no longer dirty or muddy. Upon this information, Long Island Landscape Designs,Inc. returned to the ******* Residence on January 24th, 2023 to install a larger drainage drum underneath the existing paver landing by *****************, fixing the problem as stated by ********************* verbally on January 30th, 2023. All repairs have been completed and no further correspondence carried out.

      On January 30th,2023 the ******* Residence was invoiced an additional $800.00 for the previously mentioned drainage work that was completed for a total of $1,200 ($400.00 + $800.00.) In response to this invoice, the office of Long Island Landscape Designs, Inc. was not paid for a very professional and responsive effort.

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

      They never gave us an estimate to install the drainage system until after they completed the work.  We would not have agreed to the additional $800.  Also their evaluation of the water was incorrect due to the fact that the water does not run off the patio into the garden with the french drain (originally installed).  The water runs down the patio (but not off) and then runs down the end into the basement steps.  If that water actually runs off the patio into the garden, the extra french drain at the top and the extra drainage by the landing would not have been necessary.  This extra work they did was due to the incorrect pitch they originally made in the first installation.  None of this extra work would have been necessary if they pitched the pavers the correct way the first time.
