I have a *************** with the financial company/app Stash. My accountant informed me that my income for the year 2023 exceeded the amount **** IRAs allow. I would be penalized if I did not remove my 2023 contributions. I filled out and had notarized the paperwork required for excess contributions so the money can be returned to my bank account. The total was $7126. This was on 3/28/2024. For a day or two I did not hear back from them after I had submitted the paperwork. I then got back in touch with them. After many phone calls and emails my money has yet to be returned to me. This after many customer service agents in the past two weeks have either told me the money will be in my account in the next day or two (it never was), or they cannot provide me with any information about when the money will be returned. I am hoping either the BBB can help me with this matter or at least warn others to stay away from this company. I have learned I cannot trust them with my money, or with their commitment to customers.Customer response

I have had 2 authorization holds from the Residence Inn for $150 and $10 pending (funds not available) for 27 days now. I have called numerous times to Stash asking them to release the holds as I have gotten confirmation from the hotel that they have released the funds weeks ago and even sent Stash a copy of the final hotel bill, talked with 3 supervisors and still they are pending. This is ridiculous and never have I ever waited a MONTH for a hold to be released frok a hotel and i stay in hotels 1/3 of my year. I need those funds back in my account because it has been affecting a lot of my well-being and TIMECustomer response

I made a $15 investment in what I thought was Medical Marijuana in May 2021. As a widow, I decided to not put out the extra money. Therefore, I called in June 2021 and cancelled. Only to my surprise to receive notice of an overdraft on my acct due to a $3 charge from STASH. After further checking, I had been charged $3 a month since 2021. I receive texts from my bank on any charges $5 or over. That is why I was not aware. I immediately contacted STASH and requested a refund. I was basically called a liar about canceling. The employees were condescending and the emails are repetitively the same every time. I want a full refund.Initial Complaint

To Whom It May ********* am writing to file a formal complaint against ********* (formerly Stash Invest) regarding the closure of my account and the withholding of funds totaling over $26,000. My name is *************************, and my email associated with the account is ************************** January 2023, I received an email from Stash informing me of a transition from ************** to ************ Subsequently, my account was closed, citing a violation of their rules. Despite numerous attempts to rectify the situation by creating a new account with the new ******************** institution, I encountered insurmountable obstacles.Upon contacting customer support, I was met with vague explanations, stating that my account had unspecified issues preventing the transfer of funds. Despite repeated inquiries, I was denied access to crucial information regarding the status of my funds. Furthermore, subsequent attempts to communicate with customer support were met with silence, leaving me in a state of financial uncertainty. It is crucial to note that I did not establish an account with ************** and was not privy to any transactions between Stash and **************. My funds were entrusted to Stash.com, and it is their responsibility to ensure their safekeeping and accessibility.Despite Stash's assertion that the funds are held by ************** and their recommendation to contact them, my efforts to retrieve my funds from ************** have been fruitless. This situation has caused me undue stress and financial hardship, as I am unable to access my hard-earned savings.I demand immediate action from ********* to either release my funds in full or reinstate my account to facilitate the transfer of funds. Furthermore, I request transparent communication regarding the status of my funds and a resolution to this matter without further delay.Thank you for your attention to this matter.Business response

In April 2023, I had requested STASH, a digital financial services **** to Close my Acct. #********, as I would be needing the cash as I have been Diagnosed with ***** * ******* and need to re locate back to family surroundings.I have filled out all paperwork, more than once I might add, and still currently, end of August still have not recvd my funds transferred back into my ***** FARGO ACCT.# ********** . from which it came, as I needed it for numerous reasons.I have 30 plus Emails regarding this issue back and forth with STASH, One of which states the acct has been closed April 21rst. I also sought Counsel, in which a 'Letter of Demand for Payment' was sent to the ** ** address, and returned back to my attorney undeliverable. At this point I also contacted my State Attorney Generals Ofc, no such Company..??? All I want, and NEED at this point is my Money back into my bank acct as I am finding it needed for so many unexpected things. If this Company is so reputable as the info I read claims, then why arent the BBB Accredited? Supposedly they are FDIC insured,... My satisfactory resolution is to get EVERY ***** I INVESTED TRANSFERRED BACK INTO MY BANK ACCT,. I am fearful that I will be spending the last 2 to 4 years of my life fighting to my money back,.. when this should have been a simple task. I'm beginning to wonder what REALLY may be going on here, especially after reading other complaints that are the same. I only HOPE you can HELP ME!! PLEASE!!!Customer response

I received an email on 1/29/2023 inviting me to rejoin Stash for a minimum $3 subscription fee and invest $5 by 2/5/2023 and if I did so, I would receive $30 in promotional cash. I completed the offer, received my $30 in promotional cash and closed my Stash account several months later. I received a new email on 7/8/2023 inviting me to rejoin Stash for a minimum $3 subscription fee and invest $5 by 7/15/2023 and if I did so, I would receive $30 in promotional cash. Despite successfully doing both, Stash responded that I had previously completed this offer earlier this year and was ineligible for the $30 in promotional cash. While I was frustrated by this, I asked that my subscription fee of $3 at least be refunded. The marketing for this promotion towards me seemed intentionally misleading as (a) I received a new email about a promotion I completed almost six months ago and (b) it had a different date to complete the offer terms by and thus seemed like a new offer. Multiple customer service agents refused to refund my subscription fee or let me talk to a supervisor. While the subscription fee is small, I am also concerned that Stash may be doing this to many of their previous customers. My account number with ********************** is ************ RR DWACustomer response

I have closed my Stash count quite some time ago and had asked them at that time to remove my information from their database. They continuously contact me and I continuously get errors sent from them ALL the time. Last week they contacted me stating someone updated my email address, so I contacted them to let them know it wasn't me as I don't have an account with them. They told me it was sent in error, yet I shouldn't get anything from them at all. When I asked several times why they still had my information that repeated themselves completely ignoring my question. Someone finally actually read what I was asking and told me I needed to call them to have my request granted, when I've already done this a number of times before. I refuse to call them again, as I shouldn't have to as this should have been taken care of already and more than once.Business response
