I was contacted by mam group and said I had to pay a monthly payment of 450 or else I could see jail time!! I have been paying for over a year and get no email, letter, phone call for updates. I have tried numerous times to speak with someone and I have never received any info back. This company seems like a scam.Initial Complaint

I received a random call one day stating they wanted to confirm my name and address, when I asked what it was about they stated it was for legal action but would not give me anymore information except for a phone number. I called the number and the person who answered did not provide who she was or what company I was calling. When I asked she became very rude. She wanted me to provide my personal information. I advised I was not comfortable giving this information out without any validation of who it was. They stated I owed a debt that they took over and wanted to settle. I simply asked for something in writing since I had never received any written correspondence in the mail. She insisted they only do emails. I was not comfortable providing anybody my social security number, bank and routing number without some proof that they were legitimate or written proof. She was very rude and threatening advising me I was not willing to settle the debt and that legal action would be taken against me. I simply wanted official documentation sent to me in writing. They refused to provide it. I ended up speaking to another person afterwards, stated his name as Brandon Auriemma . I informed him I was on disability and it would be difficult to commit to any payment schedule especially for the monthly payments they were requesting. After much going back and forth I let myself get threatened into providing my banking information. For the last several months I have let this company regrettably take monthly payments in the amount of $133.68 without any type of correspondence, proof of balance, payment or written agreement. I don’t have anything on my credit report stating I defaulted on anything. I feel like money I really don’t or can’t afford is going into some black hole and I’m concerned that if I stop it, I will start receiving the constant threatening phone calls.Initial Complaint

I had set up payment arrangements with the nam group Northwood assessment management that they said they were hired to collect me. So I paid 35.00 every week for a year and received no letter saying it was paid and still on my credit as derogatory. Tried to call them and no answer. I think I was scammed and works like to try and recover my money. The original creditor also said they have never heard of them they use another companyBusiness response

This company has called and harassed myself and my family regarding a debt. I allow the company to reach out to me as I would like to settle the debt, however they have been contacting relatives and friends. I am not even sure how they got some of these connections. Disclosure of debt collection to unauthorized personnel is illegal under the FDCPA. Additionally, I have never received any mail correspondences from "Northwood Asset management”. I was also asked had I received any mail correspondence regarding this matter and I have not. They verified my address but nothing has been receivedBusiness response

Northwood is saying that they are filing a claim against me. I have never done business with Northwood or the company they are supposed to be representing. I was told they have been trying to contact me via email and that I did not respond. I have never received any emails, or even snail mail, from this company. There is not even a record of either business on my credit report. This is a complete fraud!Business response

The company stated that the debt was passed on to ******* **** **********. I could not find any information on that company and BBB has them listed as out of business.

I have been constantly threatened and called and harrassed after telling them not to bother me again and that I do not owe anything and they call my family and even ex wife and threaten and harrass her as well. This needs to stop immediately. They have called night and day and also to my 75 year old mother who also does not need to be involved in my affairs. This needs to cease and desist. Adam C***** ###-###-#### is one of the main violators. I thought after you told them to stop harrassing you, under the Fair Credit Act or whatever, they have to? This business needs to stop their illegal practices.Business response

This company has been harassing and threatening me for several months now, even going as far as contact my previous employer and family that I am no longer associated with and giving out confidential information to both parties. There's absolutely no reason this company should be using harassing and unprofessional business tactics. I have no option other than to contact an attorney and go from there to stop the harassment.Business response

After review, we found that our companies first call to Ms. ******* was placed October 18, 2021. Any calls Ms. ******* received before that date would have been from another company.Customer response

Ex wife contacted me stating she received a call from this company asking for me by a nickname I used in college. Contacted the company who says that "someone" opened a payday loan account in my name. Asks if I have ever had my identity stolen. I advise I have. They state they will pass this information along. I ask if they have access to the data of who, when, and where this account was created. They state I should receive something in the mail. I receive nothing. This sounds like a scam in which they try to check if people are good "marks" to fraudulently make payday loans. Tried to call them back tonight. No answer. Highly suspect.Business response
