We took our ***** into another repair shop. We were told that they didn't have the tools to work on our vehicle. I then called Rio Rancho imports and asked the gentleman if they had the tools to work on my vehicle. I told him what happened at the other shop. I was told yes they do have the tools needed to work on my vehicle. We made an appointment and took our vehicle in to Rio Rancho Imports. While our vehicle was there, an employee called to let us know what was wrong with the vehicle and also said they don't have the tools to work on it. When picking up the vehicle, I explained again, that the only reason why we took the vehicle to them was because I was told they had the tools to work on it. The gentleman apologized but still charged us a diagnostic fee. The owner sent my husband a text asking how the service went. I replied telling him what happened. He apologized and took no further action.We then took the vehicle to a 3rd repair shop, ***************** Services. They were able to repair the vehicle without any special tools. They said some of the ***** models need a special tool but ours did not. My husband called the owner at Rio Rancho imports. He again apologized but did not refund our diagnostic fee.

I can certainly understand your frustration with this car. What we charged was for the time the technician had in giving you an overall assessment of the needs this car has. We do service Volvos, and have most of the needed tools to do basic maintenance. We do not do internal engine or transmission work, on Volvos. Unfortunately the oil leak you have requires the engine to be disassembled, which is beyond the scope of work we offer on Volvos. Once we knew what the car needed, we gave you a referral to a shop that does that kind of work. The second problem the car has is the exhaust leak at the turbo, and should be addressed immediately to prevent the driver and occupant from breathing engine exhaust fumes. All in all, the cost of repairs is going to far exceed the value of the car, and this should be considered prior to spending any money on this vehicle. I went to Rio Rancho Imports because they did a good job last year. This year was a totally different experience. I told them that I would need a need headlight. They told me they would order one. When I brought the car in, they said that they would call me with an estimate before starting work. I called again four hours later. They didn't have the headlight in stock. I asked if they would still be able to finish, and if they would call with an estimate before beginning work, and they said yes. I called three hours later. They had begun working on my car, without my approval or having called with an estimate. By this point, I couldn't very well stop the repairs as they had my car apart. They told me how much it would cost, and I had no choice other than to authorize the repair (they were already working on it. BAD ***************** This is forcing me to accept that they actually made the repairs.

I can only fix problems that I know about. Unfortunately we had parts supply/delivery issue that were unforeseen.
